These look so awesome! Figs are great, and I love the "in the drink" markers with two figs...  :D

"Beware the Angry Cornishmen ... "

Lovely new additions. Still trying to get my head 'round how these must look to the naked eye, and the quality in that respect. Amazing ...
I mean, this is how I'd like my 28s to look!

Wow! What a great project and execution.  :-*

I've been kinda out of circulation the last few months but have followed your project from afar.

It's threads like this that got me back to trying my hand at painting again.

Captain Blood, a question for you as I contemplate how many of my pirates to keep for game use: how many overall figures do you think you will stop at for your collection and maybe, if you will, a bit of a breakdown between pirates, troops, armed civilians, unarmed civilians, etc.?  And, naturally, your collection may change and grow over time - or even shrink!

Thanks, sirrah!

Hmmm... Well, at the moment I think I've done about 100 'pirate' figures, including a few guns and crews, plus about 15 civilians, plus a couple of units of troops / militia and six cavalrymen. I'll probably do another unit of cavalry, maybe one more of regular troops (redcoats!) and perhaps just a few more pirates. But I've pretty much got what I need now for the sort of bijou, small scale game I envisage  :)

Just got to resist making more and more boards  lol

Thanks for the reply.  Now, if only I can have such resistance and keep numbers relatively low - though likely at least double yours I'd guess.

More boards?  I foresee an 'out at sea' board and perhaps a 'hidden reef' board for that wrecked ship.  And that gives you a nice square gaming area of four boards.  But only if you want to go that far.   ;)

After an over two month wait, I finally received my pirate hideaways (though other items shorted from my order!  >:().  Here are a few shots showing you can use the buildings (and I think order just the buildings?) both on their stilts or not:

On stilts.

Off stilts.

Possible to modify the islands and use without the buildings if desired - I'm thinking about doing that.  Or not.  This is one of three - and that is Indiana Jones as sculpted (or NOT him perhaps).

Can definitely make it so the stilts and separate buildings are removable from each island for versatility.  Oh, and the tops of the rocks lift off to reveal inner 'sanctums' where loot might be hidden - nice touch.

The figures seen in any photos are a bunch of 15 mm figures I'm working on for pulp games, not close to being finished, just in process.  I also have a huge number of already painted pirates waiting to get rebased too, probably, round individual bases.

Some more photos of the Hideaways here on my pirate blog: https://carobbeansea.blogspot.com

They look great! Good idea to keep them separate. Maybe put four small steel bases on the underside of the building, and matching rare earth magnets on the posts? Securing them will be the trick. I've done similar things and have the magnets rip off what I glued them to...  lol

Yeah, rare earth magnets can be incredibly strong and thus destructive.  Got me thinking, though; what is the thinnest possible velcro out there?  Going to have to investigate.

your contact point might be too small for velcro (and that usually requires a bit of flex to prise it apart...

you may just want to do with removable pins...

No decision made yet but I'm starting to lean in, hard, on making the islands "wild" without the hideaways, perhaps even combining them into just one island.  If I do that, no need to worry about small contact points but perhaps still going with velcro for the stilts versus not stilts for the shacks - or piles perhaps being the better term than stilts given the seaport setting.
