Bloody lovely Richard  :-*

The painting is sickeningly good...(as always) and the terrain is gorgeous

I don't another project.... ever.... but you've now got me looking at 10mm ranges that i probably won't be able to see let alone paint  lol

Next up, a unit of Spanish colonial troops to help defend Puerto Caramba against the ravages of the perfidious English corsairs, plus a few more random civilians to wander the streets.

These figures are drawn from across Pendraken's many ranges, from the ECW to the Peninsular War. In this scale, I don't think anyone's really going to notice. The overall effect works for me  :)

The first pirate sloop is nearing completion, so that'll be the next item up...

You did a fantastic job.  The poor Spanish need some cannon to counter those English pirates.

Great stuff, the soldiers all look like there are from the LoA range - its the civilians who come from a nominal couple of hundred years of history, but if you hadn't mentioned it I doubt anyone could tell.

Nice start on the spanish troops. :-* :-*
Of course you will need muchmore than those to deal with those pirate rascals. ;D

Love the civilians. :-* :-*

Spanish colonials look good.  Which flag did you use, please?

Also, doing a review of the thread I noted the three ships in white in the first post about your town and the color suggests 3D prints.  What was the source for those ships?

Thanks!

The flag is an entirely fanciful hand painted concoction of my own, reflecting the red and light blue trim I’ve used on the uniforms. Not at all historically accurate :)

The ships are from a company called Printable Scenery. There’s quite a range of them. I’m sure you can find a local 3D print shop who will sell them to you if, like me, you have zero interest in becoming a 3D printer nerd in person. All I would say is, that having recently bought a few 3D printed items from a couple of different printing companies here in the UK, the quality of the printing (even the printing of the same files from the same originator) varies WIDELY, depending on the quality of the 3D printers they’re using, and the medium they’re printing with. So choose carefully!

Never! I can't see them! lol

Poor old boy  lol

Right then, here is the first saucy vessel for my 10mm pirates, shipmates... Arrr, she has sweet lines, and ye may lay to that.

It's a Printable Scenery 3D printed model ('the sloop', which is the second smallest vessel in the Printable Scenery pirate ship range, apart from 'the skiff', which I also have). I've added 0.8mm elastic rigging to the masts and spars.

It is quite a nice model, but fiddly as f*ck to put together. And comes with no instructions. You just have to work out what goes where from the pictures on the Printable Scenery website.

I've got quite a few 28mm pirate ships, and I didn't bother rigging them because they're just too big to store with all the masts and spars and rigging set in place.
But these ships are probably small enough to store intact in Really Useful Boxes. It's obviously always a compromise between playability and the ability to move figures and guns around on the deck, versus how much you include by way of masts, rigging, sails, and so on. I've decided to compromise with these small scale models and include the rigging but forget the sails - which is of course mental, because the sails are what makes the ship move - but never mind. It looks reasonably ship-like like this, which is as much as can be expected. If I started adding full or furled sails as well, it all just gets too cluttered.

This is a 15mm scale print, which as you can see works very well with the 10MM (really about 12mm) sized figures. You can fit a lot of the little blighters aboard  lol

The ship's guns are the 15mm scale Peter Pig pirate 'light guns'. The pennon, anchor chain etc. are my own additions.

Looks like I've overtightened the elastic connecting the mast to the bowsprit, which is why it's bowing slightly - I need to loosen that off a bit  ::)
