Ooh, I like that templar! good job on that one.

I did take a look at my frostgrave stuff as well and beautifull models, but I forsee that I won't enjoy most of them due to to much details that can be painted.

Thanks. I am very pleased with how he turned out. Already rummaging through my boxes to find out where the rest of them went.

But yeah - I'd agree. The frostgrave minis are splendid, but just have too much "stuff" to paint for me. They'll look really good when they are done though. That might just take quite a while.

Hi,

I really like this thread and your painting style! It is very nice to see all these different miniatures painted up so nicely!

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks to both of you :) I really enjoy painting these guys as well.

Speaking of which, I got another two finished:

A templar and a mercenary/Man-at-arms. Both a great deal of fun to paint up. The Templar is from the Foundry Ex-Citadel line (once again) and the Mercenary is another Metal Magic/Midlam Miniatures fighter.

These guys are part of the last few pieces I need for the game I think I'll be hosting on Horisont this year (if I don't get distracted once again  ::) ). They are meant to fit in with a Templar Warband, on a quest for an artefact. I just need to paint up a couple of crossbowmen as well, which I have ordered and am now waiting for. The warband looks like this so far:

I might swap out the red-headed guy (a retainer) for someone wearing a bit more heraldry, but that depends on something suitable showing up. I am also working on a final knight character for the warband, and then I'll do a write-up about their profiles and the thoughts and story behind the warband.

These are really nice. I like the "variations on a theme" with the crosses on the surcoats - it's a good way to make the warband thematic without looking incongruously anachronistic.

Definitely. I like the "ragged uniform" look - I find it makes the miniatures look more "real" when there are slight variations like that. Glad you like it.

I just managed to finish this guy late last night, in some frantic last-minute painting before I rush off to Argonors Attic Attack. I was just so taken with the miniature that I needed to have him in the game I hope to run:

The new Armored Warriors AND ESPECIALLY The Mushroom Man turned out WONDERFULLY...of course, as a Mushroom Fan I tend to favor the Fungus Fighter. GREAT WORK once more?

By the way, who makes the Mushroom Man at Arms?

Thanks for the kind words. I've got to agree: I like the knights, but the fungoid was so cool that it jumped to the front of the paint-que immediately. It's from Ganesha Games Fightin' Fungus Kickstarter, and not for sale elsewhere yet. I think their webshop with them is supposed to go up in a few days.

Agree. And great fun to paint, due to being somewhat simple miniatures.

Here's another one:

And with his friend (I love the size difference - They are going to look great as a group when I get more painted up) :

And a shot from behind:

I'll add some flock to their bases at some point - Once I decide what to go with.

Cheers!

Those fungi are brilliant! Fabulous "flesh"tones!

Great work on all the shiny warriors too.

I've been finishing up a couple of miniatures over the last few days, so I thought I'd save them up and do a huge post all at once.

Having gathered a group of followers, a Dark Champion raids the northern villages in the kingdoms of men. Only with great courage, skill at arms and sacrifice can such a warband be defeated.

I've dug up some of my older models for a photo-shoot, since I wanted to show them off now that I am better at taking pictures. And also to add a bit of life and story.

The evil warband proper - This amounts to around 300 pts for Song of Blades and Heroes, give or take a character or two. The miniatures are an eclectic mix of Ral Partha (The chaos warrior), Mirliton/Grenadier/Em4, old Citadel and a single Hasslefree Dwarf.

The blunderbuss's of the dark dwarves often prove devastating in the thightly packed confusion of melee combat.

Said dwarf in question:

Really like the miniature, and will definitely be getting him some friends at some point in the future. I have a champion lying around that I need to assemble and paint as well.

The Chaos Warrior - A miniature from Ral Partha. A bit more 'skully' than I'd usually like, but he's got a great vibe to him, with the face on the armour, the horns and the skulls. Lean and mean!

I've also painted a couple more good guys.
First off, the first of my Ex-citadel Foundry Norse/Norman.

The shield design was one of the first hits on google for "Norman shield", so I take it that it is historically authenthic  lol

Then there is this ranger:

A bit of a rushed mini: She had been sitting around, half-finished for close to half a year (or more?), but I needed her for a game this weekend, so she was quickly finished. Which shows. Not too happy with the way she turned out, but she's playable now. And all of my warbands have a serious lacking of long-range support, so any bow armed fighter done is good.

That's about it, hope you enjoyed the pictures, and thanks for reading :)

Great job. I really like those old school models and your painting style really suits them.

But you should really either drill out the blunderbuss oh at least paint it black.
