Tips for Painting half-phased spectral figures?
« on: 30 November 2013, 06:25:26 PM »
Hi, I was wondering if any of you have tips on how to best paint a figure that is partially corporeal/partially incorporeal.  Like a ghost halfway through the materialization process.

Any takers? Pics are preferable.

Thanks,
Bob

Sorry my stuff is overseas and I am stuck in the States so I cannot provide pictures.  I painted the half (or a bit more) of the incorporeal portion of the models first.  Mine were mostly very light greens feathered and blended to stark white on the edges of the detail.  Once completed I blended the edges of corporeal portions of the model into the incorporeal as I was painting a particular section.  I preferred to blend the real into the unreal so to speak.  You end up with a smoother transition of color without a stark visible delineation of the colors.  It is a bit of a trick when you are working in a very small crevice.  A wet palette is a must for this technique.  Sorry again about the lack of images. Hope that helps.
