Hi all. Some of you will no doubt have seen my posts before asking for beta testers for my post-apocalyptic skirmish war game rules, Across the Dead Earth. I'm pleased to now be able to let you all know a little more about it. Lots of details, along with pictures and the intro from the rulebook are all up now at:

www.deadearth.co.uk

so please take a look and let me know what you think!

It' still a little bare bones at the moment, of course, and I will continue to update as we head towards the launch of the community fundraising campaign through Kickstarter.

The incredibly talented Pijus Baksys has designed the first three characters for the game. All three are included in the rulebook as usable characters with full combat statistics and descriptions:

Reggie is a member of The Family, Adam’s gang of survivors and scavengers,

Fatboy:

the vulgar and crude savage of the Red Claw Gang, Fatboy has the assault specialisation and his crossbow can fire explosive bolts

and Crimson:

a ruthless and deadly mercenary.

Pijus is on board for the whole project, so should ADE be successfully funded you can expect the rulebook and future releases to be bursting with beautiful art of this quality.

Miniatures

Keeping up the standard of exceptional talent, Andrew May of  Meridian Miniatures is going to begin sculpting the first few miniatures for the game in the coming weeks. These will be sculpted direct from Pijus’ designs, and we’re really excited to see the results. You can see some of Andrew’s work at his blog

meridianminiatures.blogspot.com‎

Should the funding project be successful, Andrew will then sculpt the remaining gang members of The Family and The Red Claw, and these 12 miniatures along with the colour rulebook will make up the Kickstarter exclusive Starter Edition of the game. The version of Crimson sculpted will be exclusive to the Kickstarter.

Mod Edit: Title updated per my post below

Wishing you well with your endeavor. Love skirmish gaming.

Catchy title, actually it grabs the imagination. Lots of 'meaning' in the word 'across'...limitless I'd say 'cept to the imagination.

Three generations on I imagine there will be primitive / Iron-Age / Stone-Age figs in the wings, no?

I game with a PA group that regularly has a mix of "techernology" (guns, flamers, small-ish ordnance) and "Techs" but also we have lot of other-than sorts as in "solitaries" (viz. Mountain Men), Communes (tribes & villages), and "Steadholders" (organized feudal types).

We use a 'home-brew' derived from a large gaming company's former published works (OOP) for the American Wild West with a smidge of their other rules systems as needed.

Really liking your fluff.

Best all!

Sendak-Thank you! We've got a great many ideas for Gangs/Factions including savages, trade federations, pseudo-government troops, different nationalities, The Sollus (infected), religious groups or cults, lunatics as well as various gang type. It'll be great fun creating them all, but there's also plenty of room for players to create their own gangs and characters, which is fully covered in the rules.
All the character/figure types you've described in your games will be compatible with our game.
Thanks for your interest.

Vlazydragon - great! Thanks!

We're very, very excited to be able to share with you these pictures of the first "green" to have been sculpted for Across the Dead Earth, pictured below. This figure is Crimson, a deadly mercenary, who will be cast in white metal in 28mm and is the first in (hopefully) a long line of miniatures from Dead Earth Games. Designed for our Post-Apocalyptic skirmish wargame: Across the Dead Earth, this beautifully sculpted miniature would grace any PA/near-future/sci-fi and modern warfare tabletop.
Currently plans are for Crimson to be a Kickstarter exclusive or timed exclusive. You can find out more about Across the Dead Earth and the Kickstarter project at our website www.deadearth.co.uk

Sculpted by Andrew May.

"Crimson is a woman you can trust to the ends of the Earth, so long as it's you who's paying her. If it's not, keep a wide birth, not that that'll necessarily do you a great deal of good given that she could hit the pimple off the end of your nose from 500 yards away with that sniper rifle of hers. Nobody knows a lot about where Crimson came from, she doesn't let anyone get close enough, in any sense of the word - and if you think she's trying to get close to you be careful for a knife in your back. A lot of men have made that mistake, so don't ever go thinking that because she smiled at you your some kind of exception. Crimson only cares about herself and the next haul of loot. Oh, and maybe her precious rifle, I swear I've heard her whisper to that thing..."

See my PM about modifying the thread title to keep it current.... I'll change it now so the new content is flagged.  I'll also delete the other thread.

quite like here except the eyes well, the eyeballs seem too stick out a bit too much, common problem I see a lot of people sculpt with faces, trying to define the eyeballs and end up with them looking a bit bug eyed and unnatural. In my opinion anyway, not that I am a sculptor, just an observation.

Eyes sure are hard to define at this scale, some of my figures (especially historical) don't have any eyes at all and some are impossible to pick out due to the headgear. We'll get a better idea when she's painted up although not by me, she'd end up looking like a panda or this guy:  o_o

Wouldn't she squint to resist the harsh sunlight while travelling the wastelands
(I'm a fan of squinting figures. no fuzz with painting eyes  :D)
Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons,

Brilliant. I will be on board for some of these. I like the background immensely and need to pm you re playtesting. Busy new year and an unexpected operation are the reasons for my tardiness.

They sound like very good reasons, although none needed! Great to hear from you again, hope all is well re: the op. Glad you like the miniature too. Looking forward to any feedback :-)
