BTD DW Master?
« on: January 10, 2014, 04:21:43 AM »
I am in need of some DW minis I can't find elsewhere.  As much as I am loathe to do so, I think I'm going to attempt an order from Black Tree Design.

Strangely, they don't have a pic of one of their figures of The Master.

Does anyone have a pic of the DW311 Master?
All my best ideas are someone elses

My experiences with BTD have been nothing but extremely positive. I have been ordering form them for several years (although not form their DW range) and I have found that they deliver super-fast, and that their figures are well cast. I have never had to wait more that a week, and  one time the figures even arrived the next day!I know they went through a rocky patch a few years, and they picked up a poor reputation, but what ever it was that went on back then certainly seems to have passed, and now they are one of the best companies I have dealt with.
Theres more 28mm Superhero Madness at my blog, http://fourcoloursupers.blogspot.com/
And for Ultra-modern Wargaming check out Hotel Zugando at http://ultramoderngaming.blogspot.co.uk/

I have recently ordered from them I wanted some Dr Who stuff and was put off by reading almost endless forums that said you might have well out your money in the bin. Well I bit the bullet and put a small order in about £25.00 and it took 7 days from the date of order till it arrived I then put a larger order in and this took just over 3 weeks but it was just before Christmas and it was when they had the massive Dr Who sale but this was still with in a reasonable period ,also both orders were complete other than the large order was 1 slotta base short .

never had a problem with them, in fact I think my current order is taking the longest at about 2 weeks.

I ordered a bundle of DW minis with their recent big sale and got the lot about a week later.  One of the minis was incorrect though - so I emailed them and they got it sorted as soon as the next batch of minis was cast.

Very impressed with them in my first time of ordering from them.

you must have misunderstood their email, as soon as it was found in their massive warehouse...  ;)

Alternatively, the one on the left here, from Crooked Dice, seems like an easy conversion:

Thanks for the info and the input.  Makes me feel a bit better about making the order.

The Roger Delgado Master figure is somewhat hard to find, as I beleive it was not available for order back in the Harlequin days. I don't know if you can still get it. I hope so, because that's one of only three figures from the Doctor Who range I never got.

It's been said already but I never had a problem with Black Tree.  Always got what I ordered, in a reasonable time.  Their DW line may not always be perfect sculpts but where else can you get every weird DW character from the 60s too the 80s?  Sutekh?  Movellans?  Professor Kettlewell?  You name it :)

it was one of their collect tokens only figures along with the alt 2nd Doctor in hat, but both are now available from BTD and the one the OP mentioned without a picture is that collect tokens one and is the one above I posted.

I wish Crooked Dice or Heresy would do better versions of some of the classic Doctors.  Some of the BTD minis are good, others not so much.

I had an idea for a game or series of games where The Master attacks several different versions of the Doctor at key points, stealing artifacts of great power.

Hopefully at the end, I'll have a couple of players and each one will be able to play a different Doctor.

Yes certain of the BTD figures might be described as "missed opportunities".  That is certainly more true of some of the companions. Of the Doctors, Paul McGann is the only serious letdown.
