Fortified Manor House.
« on: June 12, 2008, 08:22:59 AM »
Really aimed at the English Civil War and the rather amateurish way in which the English defended old manor houses. This is not based on any specific building but rather a collection of building brought together.

It is 28mm scale. The vast majority of it is scratch built. Only some of the castle walls and the round turret are commercial buildings. The houses come completly apart and decorated with paintings, tables, beds, etc.

Hope you enjoy it.

That looks terrific - really mouth-watering. It reminds me a little of Stokesay Castle in Shropshire, my favourite little fortress:

Wow!  :o

That really is an amazing piece of work. Whether it was a real manor or not, it still would lookperfect on any gaming table.

You need one of those Pete. You could have about three different games of Gloire running on that simultaneously!

I could run like six different simultaneous scenarios on that.

1. Plant the Petard/Get Off Mine Lawyne
2. Rescue Baldrick from the Gaol
3. Rescue the contents of the wine cellar
4. Hide the Illegal Priest in the Priest Hole
5. Random Highwayman Shenanigans
6. Find the Incriminating Letters

and Tavern Brawl. There is literally no board that cannot be improved by adding Tavern Brawl on top of it.

Thanks for the nice comments lads.

There is actually a tutorial to the building of the place on another site. If the powers that be on here are happy for me to link across then it is here.

Absolutely stunning work! I'm really impressed by the lovely details, let alone by the sheer size of the terrain. It looks like a 'naturally' developed fortification with an old motte-and-bailey as centre of a later built castle and the recently (and perhaps hastily) added bastions and outer defences. Never seen this portrayed so well as a model.
Well done, sir!
