Power Armor Test Paint Scheme UPDATE Jan 27 with Muster Troops

Howdy all,

I've taken the plunge into getting a unit of power armored infantry together to use for gaming on the Battle Systems Terrain I recently backed via Kickstarter.  For my elite troopers I have assembled a couple of squads of Retained Knights from Alternative Armies Ion Age Range.

I was looking for a fairly "realistic" color for military troops....as opposed to the primary colors of 40K space Marines.  I will certainly be adding some kind of decal to the soldier pads...Unit designation or symbol...I haven't decided yet (suggestions welcome).  I'm also not sure how to paint his weapon...Black?  Metallic?

I like the color you chose got the armour.

I reckon that the gun should be both metallic and black. Pick out a few bits in metallic, but keep the majority of it black.

Yeah...like many of Bob Olley's sculpts you either love them or hate them!    I find the very Rogue Trader-esque (which is a good thing IMO) plus I love Sallet Helmets on my fantasy and medieval troops so why not on my "space Marines"??

I will probably give this a try...some metal on the scope and bolt mechanism...the rest in black.

I appreciate that feedback...I was really torn on what to do with the "rim" of the shoulder pads...Gold was a compromise.  The one shoulder pad has "rivets" that suggested to me that it would be metal...I had used so much "iron" metal already that I thought it would be a good contrast.  But as you point out...contrast is not something that suits Camo very well...   Would you suggest just painting them the same color as the rest of the armor or a new color?

This is a "test" paint scheme...so constructive feedback is appreciated and look for.

Re:rivets, i can't think of a reason why it would be a different colour from the rest of the suit, so would go with green, but personal choice.

Would it be metal in the future, or some lighter material?

either way, you are doing a great job with them

I liked the visor on the muster troop so much that I went back and added it to my knight as well... But the space and there is very small! The next time I will do this first instead of last to avoid a bunch of necessary touch up work.

I had no idea Bob Olley sculpted these. I've always liked them, maybe because the helmets cover up the 'Olley Face' that sometimes puts me off (but not always).

I wonder how well they'd go with Cobalt-1 minis, which also have a Rogue Trader vibe to them.
