Forgotten Glorious ACW - sample model
« on: 03 February 2014, 01:53:37 PM »
Since those nice folk at Forgotten Glorious were kind enough to send me a free sample model (I can't recall if it was an Iron Brigade or a 14th Brooklyn I asked for) I thought it was only polite to share some pics of him when painted and also my own thoughts as feedback.

You may just have noticed that he doesn't look particularly tidy. That's because he has defected from North to South and has signed up to my own Georgian regiment. I have carved off the fancy epaulette braiding to help him feel at home.

It's a tough pose to make inspiring really, but it's hard to find fault. Flash and mould lines were almost non-existent (well, they are brand new I guess) and the sculpting is like King Wenceslas' favourite pizza - deep and crisp and even. I like the proportions, I like the facial expression (you can clearly see the fatigue writ all over it) and I like the way he is weighed down by his pack, leaning right in to the next step he is about to take.

Down points? I struggle to find any, I must admit. I guess the eyes were sunk a little deeper than I like, which makes it tricky to get the brush in to the crevices, but it has given a nice end result with that tired look on his face.

For size and proportions I would say it's just a tiny whisker larger than my Perry's ACW plastics, but not so that you'd really notice. Great model I must say and I await the expansions to their range with interest.

Nice looking figure and excellent paintjob  :) :) :)

How does he match up with Foundry and Crusader metals?

Really looks the part - with the gaiters he would make an excellent Louisiana soldier!

That is a nice looking figure. I'd also be interested in how you think they size up with Crusader, Redoubt and Renegade.

I would say he's kind of middle-of-the-road size wise, so I imagine he'd match well with most other companies. The only Redoubt models I ever owned were massive though - more like 30mm - but that was a while ago and I don't know if they're still producing monsters.
