  • But maybe everything that dies, someday comes back
As mentioned elsewhere, I'm gradually assembling/converting a squad of nazis (I've also got some more civvies based and primed in the paint queue, so you might see those first).

ebob has an absolutely lovely 1:48 Stalingrad figure which I obtained to use and my feldwebel (probably too big for many of you, but he works just fine for me as a merely tall fellow). Everything about my nazis is going to be patently silly, so I long ago decided who my feldwebel would be, someone with a known post-war history, but whose actual service prior to and during the war is something of a... convenient mystery. The ebob mini is absolutely splendid and magnificently sculpted, but of course the face was not a likeness for anyone, let alone the fellow I wanted.

Most people would just leave it at that - use the name and never mind the likeness. But as I should probably be committed to an institution, I went ahead and started cutting into the face of the lovey figure I had just bought, resculpting most of the generic soldier's face into someone more specific.

Now, if I haven't botched things too badly, some of you might actually be able to recognize who. Can you?  ;)

Oh and please make guesses in tiny tiny text, so as to not spoil it for the next fellow.  ;)

Well, no guesses for now, but I'll let it go a few days before posting the answer. Not too long though, I wouldn't want you have to wait for Springtime to see who it is.

I too thought the same as Valerik but as you say, we know where he was. Now I'm thinking hard!

That was Valerik's guess, which was unfortunately not on. I can see the similarity since both fellows are large men with broad faces, though your guess is a much fatter man.

EDIT: I also just realized that not only is your/Valerik's guess's wartime activities known, his prewar activities are also known too! A double disqualification. ;)

In Hogan's Heroes, it's mentioned several times that Schultz was a successful businessman who owned a large toy factory which was taken away by the Nazis and put into service making munitions instead.
