Looking for suggestions for Superhero Scenery
« on: February 24, 2014, 01:25:15 PM »
Hey all,

So I've been thinking of finally getting my act together and painting up some superheroes - I have a pretty big collection of clix and 'handful of heroes' models, and now that Knight Models is doing Marvel figures, I really have no excuse! However, my terrain set doesn't really work for supers, and so at some point I'm going to have to tackle a new terrain board to make my own cityscape!

I saw this inspiring video by the Knight Models guys (in Spanish, but skip ahead to the showcase near the end if your Spanish is as poor as mine): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhGkAxN5G9A&feature=youtu.be&a

However, does anyone have suggestions for commercially available cityscape sets? Or even links to decent galleries of scratch-built stuff? I've even been considering using paper models for this project - not usually my style, but might lend a stylised 'comicbook' feel to the games?

Thanks in advance!

Corsec:

Sarissa:

Demo's Laser Cut designs:
http://demoslaser-cutdesigns.weebly.com/online-store-and-shipping-information.html

Price wise, the last is the best deal. Sarissa is a bit confusing wit their Citybuilder System, Corsec is nice but expensive.

There is also several great websites for scratch building your own....

I've never seen them in person so can't comment on  quality, but Old Glory has Chigago buildings from their gangster line that might work:

Ainsty also make some bits that may be useful:

WorldWorksGames has the very cool SwiftScenics line, especially their Necroblock building would fit in perfectly with a dark Gotham City. There's also Stenzel's Structures, Fat Dragon Games and MicroTactix who all have modern paper buildings as well as vehicles etc.

While the scale is slightly different as it is for O-scale railroads, these buildings from OGR (O Gauge Railroading) are great, and paint up really nicely for a variety of urban buildings.

You can see more from their line on their website

Some awesome stuff so far guys, thanks!

Myrlyn, do you have any idea what those OGR buildings look like next to 30mm figures? They look amazing!
