Paul Hicks' figures are usually quite compatible with Perry Miniatures in terms of general height, bulk and size : I've found out you can mix both despite the differences in sculpting styles.

just a standard history to start with. I dont really know to much about the 19th century japan and as im collecting figs for it, thought it would be a good idea to start reading up. I have read the last samurai The Life and Battles of Saigo Takamori. but would like something else to read.
