The Leibgarde of the Empress Elizabeth
« on: 22 April 2014, 02:56:49 AM »
Greetings Gentlemen
My paintbrush and imagination have given birth to yet another company for your purveyance. This time it is an Austro-Hungarian group shrouded in mystery, and related to you through the intelligence efforts of one of Lord Curr's loyal men stationed in Vienna.

Any and all comments welcome.

Excellent company.

You should consider giving the Jägers the option of taking the Skirmish talent.

Also the Hussars could take the Cavalryman talent and Cavalry horses.
My sincerest contrafibularities

Thanks Craig
Drat - how did I miss the cavalryman talents? I had them in my beta list. Cavalry horses was a bit of an oversight. I'll fix the lists to include both.
Skirmish talent? Did you mean stealthy? I can't find a skirmish talent.

Thanks former user.
With the exception of the masked lady these are all from the North Star 1866 range. Austrian infantry, Hungarian hussar characters and jagers. The lady is a Black Scorpion Old West figure. She has been sitting around since my Western gaming days, so glad she finally found employment.

wow THX, I somehow was not aware of that range...
I noticed that the use of chakos and busbys appears to be random on the hussar range. Can I asume that busbys were parade and chako field dress?

I think that the busbys were just being introduced in 1866 (according to the Osprey on it) to regular Hussars, so I guess there would be a bit of variety on display. It is called a Kutsma. I don't know how long they lasted. By 1895 they had probably gone back to the shako - but not in the Liebgarde von Kaiserin Sisi!

my problem with the hats is that there are only a few chako/forage caps distributed throughout the 12 packs and that the Kutsma/Busby as it is displayed on the miniatures (with the tall plume) is probably parade version, plus I don't believe that a mix would be worn in the same unit.
Anyway, the question is only academic - but at least I am now aware of them, so THX again

The skirmisher talent, which costs 3 points:

"Due to training and practice the Skirmisher only gets a -2 penalty for moving on foot
and firing instead of the normal -4. In France and the USA this talent is also known
as 'Zouave'."

Craig gave us a preview of it and the new talents Grenadier and Mechanic when he wrote v. 2.0 of the Prince of Wales Extraordinary Company list, which is in the "Bonus Materials" section of his blog.

Thanks, Eisenfaust. Well worth including then.
