Thanks! I hope you like these, too, with their new bases (obviously, I still have to repair the paintjob on the leader):

Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

Found these in a box with a lot I purchased last year - a fairly well table-top standard painted unit for the Gondorian army - and one or two units for Dragon Rampant.

I seem to get my threads mixed up lately. Well.

At least this is in the right place: My Moria plastic Fellowship is being prepped, and as I want these for Blood Eagle, they are going to end up based for outdoor trekking (I have a spare set that can be based for dungeon delving).

Finally, I primed some of these:

And as I am trying to clear my prepping station a bit, I have been busy with pliers and razor saw:

Played a game of LotR Blood Eagle today. I am not happy.

Small sample group. You just need to play more games - even if that means solo gaming (e.g. play against the Uruk-hai as they charge forward, with you trying to hack them down).

I think you're right. I should solo game a lot, as it would mean a lot more games played - and I could go to and from the table as needed, playing a game over several days if I could not find time to finish it right away.

That way my horrible dicing would also affect both sides, and probably mean less one-sided affairs.

Regarding Blood Eagle, I probably also need to play with slightly larger forces, as these are only 200 points (50 points short of the recommended starting size), to ensure meaningfulness even after losing a couple of minis.

Well, next up is some God of Battles (on the 22nd), against a brand new opponent and his Orcs, a foe my Undeads have not faced before, and I have decided trying to get a new unit ready for the game. Back in the saddle!

I have decided to bring a Blood eagle table for Horisont VIII - I may never win a single game under these rules, but providing games for others to play also brings me joy!

The plan is as follows:

A 4 warband multiplayer experience:
  • Uruk-Hai Scout Raiders (200 pts completed)
  • Dunlending/Viking Raiders (200 pts almost completed, 1½ figure short
  • Rohan Town defenders (200 pts completed) + objective civilians (must be painted)
  • Dwarven relief force (must be rebased)

Tomorrow I shall reboot my painting of the last vikings, and find the painted Dwarves I purchased last year. I may also start constructing Dwarf profiles.

I have completed my plans - and I have re-based additional Rohirrim, as the defenders probably need a boost, and I have also re-based a second-hand Gimli, and written up a profile for him.

There is a lot of posts about the project on my blog, should it be of interest to someone.

It's satisfying when plans come together, isn't it?

Now, some group photos of the factions along with the terrain...that would be desirable.

Yes, that too... I am off to Horisont VIII tomorrow, and besides packing sleeping gear and the likes, I have to sleep some of the day after working night watch tonight, so no close-ups until next week (but, hopefully, plenty of in-game photos from the convention when I return home Sunday)

The terrain is a bit plain (had to focus on the warbands and objectives to make it in time), I intend to add some generic scatter (barrels, crates, haystacks, water troughs - you get the picture), and some wattle fencing and dung heaps somewhen soonish... not to mention that I need to build some proper Dark Ages housing in addition to the couple of resin buildings from Frontline Wargames I have WIP somewhere (they need some filler/putty here and there).

First part of an AAR from the Horisont convention is on my blog:

Actually, there's also an AAR from the test of the scenario (featured post - for now).

Wonderful stuff. What's the white basing material?

Nothing fancy, just ordinary wall filler (from a tube). Enough for literally hundreds of minis for about €10. I have been wanting to make some basing gloop, but am a bit in doubt what paint to use...
