I haven't looked in detail but the Red Star French Indochina figures might be suitable for the French paras.

The Red Star French paras are indeed perfectly suitable for Suez. Same applies to the Eureka ones in 15mm, if that's your scale of choice. Post 1957 you need to start looking at figures with MAS 49 rifles and AA-52 machineguns. I believe Red Star have promised these as future releases.

I do like the Red Star models, but this project is solely to use up my leftover 28mm WWII models, which I will never get round to painting as whole platoons. Therefore, I am doing various squads for early-modern/postwar conflicts which use the same leftover uniforms.

Really, my scale of choice is 15mm - it was only Chain of Command that got me venturing into the forbidden ground of 28s, to make club opponents easier to find.

That's as may be, but you'll crack eventually and fully come over to the dark side.  >:D

Don't! Before you know it you'll be attending Barbie conventions and working out how you can convert the Barbie Camper into an APC.

Picked up a sweet Ken Ben Laden figure at one of those... but enough of derailing the thread.  ;)

Thread necromancy.

Came across this footage of an Egyptian military parade just prior to Suez.

Of possible  interest, aside from all the Soviet kit, BTR-152s, ZIS 57mm AT guns etc, is the fact that most of the troops in tin hats are indeed wearing US M1 pots. Hard to make out the weapons but it looks like at least some of the paras have Port Said/ Carl Gustav SMGs. Not easy to tell but I think the artillery crews in the back of the trucks may be toting FN M48 rifles (SAFN).

At the risk of seeming obsessive, I had a closer look at those artillerymen and I think they may be sporting Hakim rifles.

No more than the rest of us  ;)  I just wiki'd the Hakim, and it was very interesting. Thank you!
