That looks absolutely brilliant - nicely done sir, more of your patented orange/yellow and blue too. Mega.

That has come out really well, and blends in perfectly with your other buildings in the collection.
Bravo, sir.

Thanks guys! I'm pretty pleased with the result. More than enthusiastic enough to want to try something else bigger in future.

Just what others have said, great idea and execution with that build! Something bigger in the plans? Sounds rather good :)

Too much false modesty? ;)
Well sir, I don't blow smoke up people's arse or put on airs. I shoot pretty straight on things.
But I am really liking your work. Awesome results for a beginner. Keep it up and get to steppin.

I've got half a dozen other buildings from various sources to get painted up and added to the town - some of the Kryomek domes, a weird plaster building that a friend gave me, some Grand Manner and Ainsty resin ones. Proper streetscapes are a strong possibility in the not-too-distant future!

Thanks for all the feedback :)

Some new painted stuff - another new building (turns out it's an old Grenadier thing), and some vintage Citadel greenskins:

The space goblin and space orc are from the very first 40k figures produced. I'm much more fond of the goblin - he was a lot of fun to paint, while the orc was more challenging!

Lovely job - I know some of the minis are a bit ropey but I love that early Ork aesthetic (sort of space scruff meets africa korps with a hint of Hell's Angels). They just looked like great space barbarians.

Grenadier building eh? what scale's it meant to be?

Agreed - those orks are perfectly acceptable being rough around the edges :D

The building is nominally 25-28mm scale (designed to be used with the old Future Warriors range). I can't work it out myself - the bottom section seems correctly scaled, but the top is small. It's the same with the other buildings in the range - I suspect they're intended to be abstract representations rather than scale accurate.

Ah yeah - someone in the know (can't remember who) told me on a forum once that there was a fairly influential chap in the world of 'small model buildings to put toy soldiers near' during that early 90s period who was a big advocate of under-scaling buildings. He was specifically talking in reference to those Scotia domes (that you pointed out to me where originally for Kryomek), but perhaps he had an influence of the grenadier ones too. It works well with your selection - I think they call that 'non-standard construction' in the world of town planning!

No dedicated ride yet pocoloco. I've got one on the table though :)

I've been busy creating a larger building for my terrain collection.

The starting point was this pair of bathroom storage thingies from the clearance shelf at my local budget homewares store:

After plenty of work, including rendering the whole thing, I put the building down (pre-paint) with the rest of the collection:

I'm hoping to get it painted up pretty soon, as I'm pleased with the way it's come together.

There's a blow-by-blow on the construction over at my blog.

I'd say you've nailed it again, and yes, bargain store clearance shelves are our FRIENDS! :o :D
