The entry for August - a twelve man rifle group.

I will be using Triumph and Tragedy for my games of Zulu War and in these rules up to a quarter of the force is allowed to wield rifles. I thought it was a nice starting unit to make.

The rules also state that one unit must consist of at least 20 figures. Making this unit will be my aim for September. All other units can be between 12-20 figures. I think I will go for the lower figure in most cases.

I was surprised to learn from the leaflet in the Warlord Games box, that the zulu had organized their forces inspired by the British. Especially that shield designs were not random but rather uniform!

Impressive,  looking at the 'before' figure I'd not have thought you'd get such good results on the finished item.

Bloody marvelous looking poltroons!  :-*

"The generality of Zulu warriors, however, would not have firearms – the arms of a coward, as they said, for they enable the poltroon to kill the brave without awaiting his attack."

The end result is amazing, gorgeous work. Yet I am quite sure if I were to try that, the end result wouldn't look half as good. So you must use some kind of magic  :)

Outrageous!  :-*

Yes, you are correct about the shields. Wargames Factory has an excellent article on Zulu regiments and shields.

I've included the .pdf document for you to take a look at. Scroll down about mid way where they start describing the different regiments and you will see pictures of their shields.

Look at bottom of my post for .pdf attachment.

Thanks, well yeah I guess the Zulu army just takes well to this process due to the colours.

Hehe well, I had my doubts too!

They do indeed look the danglies.

Well, if you know how to handle a brush I think it is fairly straight forward.

Poltroon?! Haha what a brilliant word. I never heard it before.

Crazy Viking Magic!

Nice work, and useful information for when I get to my Zulus! I have the T&T rules but haven't read through enough to digest it :)
