Utu received an extensive overhaul last year and the newly restored version has been shown theatrically in NZ and OZ over the past twelve months. There's an FB page and a public FB group for those who wish to be kept up to date on such presentations :

This move has produced the fourth cut of the film, the first being the 118 min original NZ version, the second the cut 104 American release print and the third the 107 min European edition which radically altered the movie's chronology and told the story in flashback mode with Te Wheke's trial providing the narrative thread.

Utu, though : despite its claim to being an 'unrated director's cut', the old US Kino DVD is the cut American version, with fairly poor picture quality and sound. The Australian DVD offers Murphy's original cut, but isn't 16x9 anamorphic (this is the disc available from Amazon.co.uk for £ 17.99 though beware as it is a region 4 import). A proper Blu-Ray release of
Utu would be a day one purchase for me.
