Kongo Kingdom army

This rather small army was my bet for an african army which could be used from the 15th to the 19th century without many problems (in fact, they are mainly modelled after 16th and 17th century references. They looked a lot more westernized afterwards - specially the king and his retinue!).

Interesting, it never came to my mind to look after central african military forces as I never invested time researching central african history if the 15th 18th century.

I once saw a scholarly book about this region and conflicts. Unfortunately it was small and expensive so I didn't buy it on sight like I should have. 

I seem to recall there were a lot of kings named Pedro, some of whom seemed to be fighting each other. ie. Pedro IV vs Pedro III or similar.

have You considered combining plastic Zulu with Plastic Sudan ansar?

I actually painted some more archers for the army last month! Just shows the longevity of some projects. But also how they never seem to get finished.

The Perry plastic Sudan Ansar have cloth skirts and wraps, and also different heads, plus other spears. In addition, You could also use Wargames Factory ancient light infantry, these have bows. maybe You can get the bow arms from someone who doesn't need them any more

But are you sure they have similar proportions? i'm sick of buying bits just to discover A's heads are way too big for B's bodies and the like
