Judge Dredd minis (pictures)
« on: August 20, 2008, 02:36:22 PM »
So here goes: this isn't just the first time I've attempted to upload pictures here, but also the first time I've shown pictures of my minis anywhere.

Anyway, here are some pictures of the Wargames Foundry 2000AD / Judge Dredd range. First up, is Dredd himself, plus another Dredd and a Tex Judge who's lost his Stetson:

Now, here's SJS Judge Slocum and Chief Judge McGruder. Canny viewers will appreciate that McGruder is pictured here as she used to be head of the SJS:

Third, we have PSI Judge Omar, Judge Giant, and a Tech Judge. Before anyone points it out, I'm aware that Giant should be black, but on the day I couldn't be bothered to mix up any more paint, so he's just a generic street judge (in the same way that the Tex Judge is bare-headed to be a more versatile mini).

Finally, here are Judge Hershey, Anderson and Karyn. Hershey is a street judge here, and should really have dark hair, but I've painted her to be more of a red-head (although the picture doesn't come out so well here) to represent Judge De Marco. I always thought Hershey was a bit of a cold fish to be honest. For some reason, this mini isn't listed on the Foundry site, I don't know why.

That's it for now. I need to play a bit with my photo skills, and muck around wit iPhoto to crop and brighten them a bit, but I hope they meet with favour for now. I've commented to the Lead Painters League in the past, so it's only fair that I put my own efforts up for criticism. Thanks!

They look pretty good to me, too. :)  Good job.

I particularly like the second Dredd (the one on the right), but then I've always prefered this one out of the whole range.

Nice collection and obviously some thought gone into them too.

Never painted any 2000AD myself and with the price of these I would need a second mortgage to do what you have

Thanks for the comments everyone.

The minis are quite expensive for what they are, but they're really great sculpts and fun to paint. They're also a shade bigger than the usual Copplestone 28mm sculpts, and have very thick integral bases, so there was a deal of cutting to be done to ease them into the plastic slotta bases.

Also on price, these are what you'd call an expensive lesson. Years ago I had an almost complete range of the old Citadel Dredd minis. I'd picked up several second-hand deals for a pittance, and had plenty of doubles too. When I moved house about ten years ago I had a big clearance and gave them all to a flatmate, along with all my other gaming stuff, all for the price of a pint! And in the last year I've come back to painting, and still lament that act of madness... Try replacing those on Ebay today - they make Foundry look like cheap plastic Airfix 1/72 soldiers!

I like them. 8)

Maybe you could buy the others back from your old flatmate?

Might take a few pints this time...
