Arthurian Romano British War and Conquest army WIP

I was invited to take part in a Dark Age themed gaming weekend by Gravesend wargames club. The event is taking place at the end of November using 2500 points at Wargames Foundry’s new home.

Its been a while since i had to get stuck in to build an army of this size in such a short time.

Here are some shots of the work so far.

This will be a 24 man unit of Comanipulares.

There will be 2 units of 24 advancing spearmen(milites i think) with red or black shields to keep the seperate.


Backed up by 2 units of poorer quality  spearmen.

I'm working on the commands for all the units at the moment, and there will be figures in assorted helmets added to the unarmoured units to flesh them out and add more variety to the units.
The figures are by Curteys Miniatures, shields are transfers by Little Bigmen Studios as will be the banners.
There will be a unit of heavy cavalry and skirmshers to finish it off. I’ll post more as i get them finished.

Wonderful stuff. Your miniatures (both these painted ones) and the range really have the Dark Age feel of scruffiness.
