Need Help - Looking for a model.
« on: 27 August 2008, 11:58:00 PM »
Ok guys & gals,

I saw a pic of a model tank. I was in a conversation so I didn't catch the details and for the last two days I've almost become obsessed by it. I want to look at it again and see who makes it. All I can remember is this......It was somewhat skirted (Like a Matilda II), it was primered gray, it had a figure sticking out of the turret and it was a profile shot.

Does ANY of this sound familiar? :?

Maybe the Vickers Medium from Copplestone Castings?  Certainly in the photos on the website it is grey no figure shown though it might have been a different photo of it.

That could be a great number of pics...

I understand your obsession: I too have experienced this with pictures of models I wanted to get in touch with (though they were usually not grey...).  lol

Good hunting!

I'll keep looking, I know it's here somewhere. I know my description was very vague but that's the best I could come up with.

andekmcc - Thanks forther suggestion. I'll look there.

Geudens - Ha! Good one.

Thanks

So it was it actually here, on Lead Adventure, or aren't you sure? That would help narrow it down a little.

I'm about 80% sure it was here. The only other place I was that day was TMP. I think andekmcc might be real close. I took that suggestion and looked at Copplestone and took a look at the Vickers. The skirting looks close but not quite. I did look at some other designs of the Vickers and the Vickers C looks like it in the body, but not the turret.

Weird.

Any idea who else, other than Copplestone, that makes a Vickers?

I'm pretty sure thats the only company doing the Vickers Medium at the moment in 28mm (i believe its redone from the the original HLBS one), there are a couple of companies doing the smaller/later interwar vickers tanks for Spanish Civil War period (Anglian Miniatures and Force of Arms).  But these are really different beasts entirely.  I'd be interested to find out what it is once you find it yourself  ;)

Nice try Calimero. You're right, that hits all of the details I gave, but I would have recognized the Stuart as I have built half a dozen, or so,  in 1/35 scale over the years. Thanks for trying...I mean it.

andekmcc - I still think you're close. The Vickers have the vented side skirts like I saw (the earlier makes anyway). I swear I'm gonna find that pic.

Thanks again, everyone.

the miniatures page has a grey primed vickers photo on this thread no figure out the top though but i'm afraid its the copplestone one again.  It is a full profile though..

I saw this too. The body looks to be right on, but the turret doesn't look right though. I'm now starting to wonder if the turret was scratch built.

Thanks for trying to help.

I seem to remind having seen a model of an early russian tank with the vickers chassis, maybe a T26. Chieftain & Anglian did one recently
