Another to-remain-unfinished project, which, if the weather permits, could take up just a weekend.

I am building a small 2' x 2' board for supers (of course I'll now be told that no system supports this size of board) which is (a) simple (b) cheap and (c) easily stored. I chose for my scenery a flight deck - whether it's a ship, or a helicarrier, or simply a runway (or spaceport) doesn't matter.

Choice made as I need a simple and flat surface on which I can place movable scenery - boxes, tanks, barriers and maybe a whole aeroplane.

Day 1 - Friday
Stopped by a recycling bin to deposit some bottles, discovered that someone had dumped some wooden parquet-like panels of wood. Picked up a bag-full, got 11 in number - 8 will be larger than 2'x2'.

That's a start, anyway!

Day 2 - Saturday
Bought a couple of spray cans for the bases - trouble is the wind might mess up my plans entirely.

Popped to a local model store to see if I could find any useful deck-top furniture - and left empty handed  :(

(Shamefully) went back to the drop-off site to see whether I could find more of those panels: success. I now have 20 :D

Plan:
1) clean them up and spray them
2) add details
3) add weathering and transfers
4) ID bits for deck-top furniture

If the wind blows me off-course I will move on to (4). Purchase of a new telephone left me with a potential gun turret.... >:D

LATER: have cleaned up the panels; some of them had what smelt like stale cat food stains... :(

Day 2 update
The panels (slats, strips, whatever) have been spray painted, in red, grey, white or black. My black spray can proved messy, with excessive flow of paint, so I'll use a couple of splotchy areas as damaged surfaces.
All 20 are now spray-coated, next step would be detailing with paint and transfers. I can have a 4'x4' table with the number of panels I have, with 5 left over for irregular shaped surfaces or a 5' x 4' surface, more than adequate for supers and good for sci fi skirmishes or small battles too.

Decktop furniture:
I scouted around and found a few odds and ends:
1) 3 large fuel tanks - which would never be found on an aircraft carrier deck, but what the heck  :D
2) a small AA turret
3) a fire tender
4) a spacedship (!)
5) a barrier
6) a trestle
7) a very large and complicated device which looks like a steampunk bulldozer blade...could be a blast protection panel for launching craft

I should have some boxes and drums, but need to locate these.

Day 2 update
Added some metal drybrush to represent exposed flight deck metal in areas where the paint has been abraded or burnt away.
In the afternoon a mood of despair had set in as the slats had looked so drab, and I had the distinct feeling I had just wasted a bundle of time and paint. The drybrush improved things.

I should really take some pics.... :-I

It's not dead.
But still no pics.  :( ;D
It is, however evolving: work on a bit of terrain - a spaceship - is progressing, as is what I am calling a launch ram. I have a team of 'supers' - a Pulp Alley team of robots.
And a few heavy vehicles for the heroes to battle....

Pulp City supports this size and upward; we intentionality designed the deployment rules too allow from 2' x 2' through to 3' x 3' or even 4' x 4'. :)

Ah, good - I love to be proven wrong*, especially where there's a gameboard I can use as a result  :D
Thanks!

Back to Supers:
1) my 'build something' project is an ice sled for supers, so that's something being done.
2) I made a small purchase of models and now have a couple of small bands of heroes and whatnots.
3) The boards - still in the same state of progress as above(!), but I now found a place to store them.
4) Batroc troubles - see below

Although I prefer my supers to be homegrown, a couple will still be close to 'reality' (in the forms of Tin Pan and Dr Chrome); as well as two fellows who, in spite of my above preference, I cannot resist and would like to replicate. One of these is MODOK; cannot find a model of him (other than a too large Heroclix which I am not too keen on), but I should be able to come up with some solution. The other is an odd Favourite, which I mentioned in another thread - Batroc the Leaper. I have veered from the 'original' Heroclix version (no 28 in glorious purple and yellow) to the Winter Soldier version and back, and have tried to buy the purple and yellow one, especially since I found out his transparent 'kicking base' can be removed.

The trouble I've had is remarkable: I found a site which has the chap at low cost - delivers to U.S. only (which I discovered after trawling through the entire list of Marvel Heroclix to find some other stuff - which Idid not).
A handful of UK sites have the film version only. A couple of sellers on ebay have the one I want for sale at around £1.00 - and then want at least £13 for shipping!
I finally found one from a site where he's £1.10; but shipping is still an unreasonable £3.00! Which I normally wouldn't mind at all, but for such a cheap model it's a bit too much. And unfortunately I couldn't find other stuff I wanted to blunt the postage blow....

The hunt is on - but I might divert to a conversion, if I can find a suitably moustached head  :D

Some pics:

An escape pod - Liberty Bell - with two supers, Alloy and an as yet unnamed member of the Profenders of the Universe.

The shape of things to come (1) - a spaceship still in its early days of construction.

The shape of things to come (2) - the bits for an installation, including Deadzone and Mars Attacks bits and an old discarded CRT monitor stand.
