DIY Ratlines for Gaming Ships
« on: 11 November 2014, 06:19:44 AM »
After taking advantage of the OG Shipyard big sale back in August, I wanted to add a few extra details, and the one that I really wanted to do was ratlines. I want to keep it simple and still look nice. Haven't done anyreal ship model building, I went and bought this jig from Micro Mark. Of course after I bought the jig and waiting for it for about a three weeks due to being on back order, I statred to find a lot of reviews…negative reviews. As mentioned before not a serious ship model builder, and I wanted to give this jig an honet shot. So having never doent this before, here's is a quick pic of my first attempt of working the jig and tying up some ratlines. I had a little help from a video off of Youtube:

Ooops almost forgot…yes the frst knot is a square knot and the rest are clove hitch knots. This pic was taken before I trimmed up the excess strings. This set took me about 10 minutes.

Hope to post more pics with the final result mounted on my ship.

10 minutes?

I was looking at it and thinking, darn that would take a lot of time to make. Apparently not. Very cool.
