Not wargaming miniatures
« on: 22 November 2014, 11:28:06 PM »
both Brigade Games and Dixon are releasing 1914 Christmas Truce, which I'm thinking of picking up, but I was wondering are some nice looking figures or vignettes. One that comes to mind is Hinterlands two ladies on camels also Eureka's Stanley Accrington

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

There is plenty on offer in the Artizan Thrilling Tales range which are not strictly 'wargaming' figures.
Plenty of cracking civilian types to make a non-wargaming scene.

Also civilians from all ranges can make nice dioramas.

The Tea Drinking models Northstar are selling are very nice but not really wargaming figures as such!

Dark Fable have a lot of Egyptian palace figures - see Indiegogo threads at the moment
Gary, Glynis, and Alasdair (there are three of us, but we are too mean to have more than one login)

There's figures out there that someone just  decided to make up on a whim that's what I'm looking for.

I think there's a Thatcher figure to go with the Blair.

Well, if whimsy is what you looking for, then this chap was certainly made on a whim...

I have a couple left if anyone wants one... ;)

Studio McVey does some great "limited edition" stuff. 28mm and Beautifully sculpted. Some 'em you could game with if you wanted to, but they are sculpted/made for vignette purposes, and some even come with their own scenery.

Technically I feel like anything that's sculpted and posed to a high enough standard is potential vignette material, even if it's sold as a gaming mini. It's not a matter of what it's made/sold for so much as what blooms in your imagination when you look at the catalog pics. There's some really good "vignette-able" stuff in the Anima Tactics and Infinity ranges, for example.

History viewed from the inside is always a dark, digestive mess, far different from the easily recognizable cow viewed from afar by historians.

Eureka has recently released a lovely little vignette of diggers playing two up in the trenches, comes with a section of trench with the rising sun badge on the obverse. Beautiful little vignette.
