Long time since I last had game of 1812 Retreat from Moscow. But yesterday evening Michael and I got together in my new flat for another excellent game - another loss for me but very enjoyable.

Really excellent looking game but the pics don't do it justice (if you don't mind me saying so?)

I've lightened a few up (I hope that you don't mind?):

Don't mind at all. I have now added more light to the photos - I did not want to use flash as it gives a shiny look.

Love the report.
Thanks to your blog and photos I have started on my own retreat from Russia.
I have lots of terrain done, not much in the way of figures  painted.
Only ten French and five mounted and five dismounted Cossacks painted.
More will be done in the next week or two.
Then to a game and battle report.

Yeah, me too!  :-* :-* :-*

I bought all the Perry original releases as soon as they were on the market but sold them due to not really having the time to paint them as much as they deserve.... I've got to admit that I was also put off by the potentially dazzling array of uniforms mixed with 'local' clobber too- since the expansion of the range I have really regretted selling the originals and it's a subject that I will return to at some point.

Do show your terrain, it's something that's always worth looking at. It's quite fascinating as to how different people go about producing snow/winter terrain.

Only ten French and five mounted and five dismounted Cossacks painted.

Well, we all start a project from somewhere- I've got 8 Afghans and Five Brits painted up for my NWF project at the mo' but pictures will be appearing in the Colonial section all the same- I fnd it a great way of keeping 'my fingers in many pies' motivation going :)

More will be done in the next week or two.
Then to a game and battle report.

Looking forward to it  8)

Darrell.

Well thank you for the compliments. I was blow away by the minis at first and I love seeing them on the table fully painted.

And yes please show your terrain pieces.

I know next to nothing about the which uniforms were used by which troops. So whenever possible I have used the pictures of the different sets on Perry's website as a guide. The minis paint up really nicely and are filled with details.

And you got Ney killed too?! Quelle desastre!  :)
"One of My Men Became Restless" focuses on 15mm Horse & Musket periods and 25mm Horse & Musket, Fantasy, Horror and Victorian everything! Occasionally there'll be stuff of related interest but it's mostly a painters blog.  See it all here: http://flashman14.blogspot.com/

Had the pleasure of a game against Teemu from Finland, visiting Legoland among other things in Denmark. He had made the long drive across Jutland to come to Struer and have a game with me.
