Will there be any friendly gorons welcoming human children dressed in green playing a clay ocarina?

I like the fire temple :-* :-* :-*

Cheers
Matt.

I like the temple at the bottom.

I'm looking forward to seeing how you'll be doing the lava and lighting; at least you won't have a problem due to lack of space; you could cram in 1,000 LEDs in this crater!

What about a Million candles torch?

Hi Guys

Progress has been very slow...but I did manage to get the base ground work done and give it a first coat.

The Volcano is being painted to fit in with my desert landscape boards.

Having trialled lava issuing from the crater using expandable foam (did not work) I am now going to work on version 2 of the crater idea. This will almost certainly involve a pool of lava in the crater lit from below.

As a result I had to cut a whole in the bottom of the base for the light fitting.

Thanks to Jim I have an extra week to finish this build, and with a trip to Hamburg this weekend to visit Tactica to squeeze in, there will be no more progress updates for at least a few days..

A bit more progress...I think I mentioned I cut a hole in the bottom of the volcano in my last post...

here it is (lousy photo but you can see my little helper peering in from the other side

well one of the reasons to cut a hole was so I could get the base of the crater in place..a clear sheet of transparent plastic (can you guess where I am going with this?

With the plastic glued into place I liberally covered it in bathroom mastic - it says on the tube it will dry clear but I am not so sure. The mastic was teased into irregular waves.

Its now going to take about three days to dry...

Flickering LEDs beneath it?

A little bit more progress today - with the mastic dry I was able to apply the first two coats of paint on the lava and test the lighting

and here's the effect with light shown through from the bottom.

This will flicker... :D

Its at this point I am probably going to have to stop showing progress - I still need to fish the lava (if this one works as well as my test I'll be very happy), I need to airbrush paint the whole structure, paint the groundwork etc

In addition I want to add some form of stairway up the side of the Volcano - afterall it is a place of worship for the great god Kong

My Kong is a Schleich model gorilla (perhaps a little small) but a great model

Here he is against an unpainted 28mm figure

Here's to finishing this monstrous terrain piece off...
