How goes the Fergusson Saga...? I miss the updates...! Will those poor captives ever get rescued...?

Of course, I'm a fine one to talk! I spent half the summer overseas, and am now buried in getting all my ducks in a row for this year's classes and my new batch of kiddos. I have lots of gifted and advanced students, and I love pushing them to delve deeper into the curriculum. So, prepping that cuts into my gaming time... :'(

Hope things are well with you, mon ami!

Hello Mike,
i'm back too and i m working actually on the report of our last battle for my blog (fighted in early July).
The AAR Will be available soon.
Here it is the pitch of this scenario :

"....Sahsquash is alive , alive !!!
There are some days, a survivor warrior, injured during the Shasquash’s raid (part 2 of the series), returned to camp after having witnessed the capture of Shasquash. Left for dead by his warriors, the wounded great Huron chief, was picked up by the colonial militia of Flat German, who was in pursuit of his warparty. Pressed for time, the American who didn’t wanted to lose contact with the Hurons, kidnappers of the Fergusson women, left Shasquash with some guards in the small hamlet of Forckpoint.
...."

and this is the layout of the battle :

cheers

Great report! You can never guess what the players or the dice will do. And what famous general said, "No plan survives contact with the enemy?" I like how the family was involved in this fight...

I will try to add it to the First Command page for Battle reports soon...

thank you Rob.

i make the link work, now.

it's a very very simple way.

it's just a cutter and paint work association...
the most important think he is to find the good subject in the 28's figurines range to deal with.
Here, the peones are perfect. The dresses are clean and simply builded. No special décorations on them too.
So they are naturally selected to fit the job.
i sculpt fringes with a cutter at the end of the dresses, shirts sleeves or short sleeves.
When i say "Sculpt", I mean "make strip in the lead"......that's not very difficult.  ;)

Cheers

Good stuff, Eric! I actually have some Indian civilians on my desk right now. They are from Old Glory's Plains Indians War range. However, they look close enough to work for our period, too. I have the first colors on them, but have stalled out on them now for a couple months. Hopefully seeing yours all painted up will inspire me to finish mine off.

In other news, I purchased a web builder program and am retooling the First Command Wargames website. I was never happy with the Game Reports page because of the limited amount of things the online web builder allowed you to do. This offline program allows me to do quite a bit more, and I'm pretty excited about how the website will look -- in particular the battle reports page. Your Fergusson's Farm saga will definitely be on there.

Looking forward to reading a new installment soon!

Note that none are real woodland indians.
they are all converted miniatures  ;) from different periods.

from left to right :

Dixon Oldwest White young girl  / Dixon : Apache woman / Foundry apache woman / Foundry Early indian range / Conquest Old man

More to follow on my blog in a few days...

then let's go back to the Saga Fergusson.

The great game was played last friday 26th at our club local.
The Revenge operation coming to his main goal (and end ?) :
Find and free the Fergusson women !  ;)

The game was display on 2 Tables, one for the camp entrance with a palissade and somes huts. Woods and cornfields were positionned around to make cover for the approching ambusher (Milice and Rangers). Meanwhile, the Iroquois ally and some frontiermen get the back door of the Huron village to find and free the women.
That was the scenario pitch.

A few shots of our 2 tables (before deployment).
Table 1 : entrance of the Big Camp . The bier bottle is for maintaining moral high before the battle begins.

and Table 2 ;
The back end of the camp with the river.
From where the intruders (Iroquois war party and some frontiermen) come into the village to rescue the Fergusson women.

Fortunaly, the scenario is fallen into an unbalanced game because we have played as per the rules for the civilians and we get some trouble to deal with them and their reactions to flee from a camp attack (meaning a slaughter).

the rangers assaulting the village entrance. With the Militia on their right Flank.

Add some bad luck for the Huron Leader (on table 1) and a too lucky iroquois player (on the table 2), and we get battle too unease for the Huron to complete their objectives.   o_o :'( ???

All the players (especially the Hurons) were agree to replay this battle, with some specials rules for the civilians and scouting.
Hope to test this again, in a near future.

Cheers

The tables look great, Eric! Feel free to adjust the rules to best fit the scenario. The stats in the rulebook are there to give you a starting point. Every scenario is different, so feel free to do what you think makes the most sense.

I can't wait to read a more indepth report! I've missed reading your reports, mon ami!
