alternative ghouls?
« on: 21 February 2015, 03:34:48 PM »
I'm looking for ideas for alternatives for ghouls. Steering away from the classic bald-headed undead,  I've been thinking about ancient german naked fanatics or viking fanatics and berserkers. Pale skinned insane cannibals with dirty hair.
Any other ideas?

RedZ once did some really nice conversions using lots of historical sets merged with the Mantic zoms and ghouls.

I can't remember all of the kits used but I know that he used GB plastic dark ages stuff and some mounted Normans.

I remember both of those. I don't want them to be undead though. degenerate humans after generations of cannibalism and inbreeding, but still living creatures.

I've seen G.W's Goblins from The Hobbit range painted up as Ghouls. I was rather impressed with the way they turned out.

Yep, Hobbit goblins for me, very ghoulish. Though some are still baldies.

Actually, you can probably make some rather interesting ones taking mantic ghouls and zombies with some of the gripping beast plastics you want to use.

Convenience as much as anything else. Any game you like that's not skirmish. Some are on 60x40mm, some are 40x40mm and some are oddment sizes.

We mixed Mantic with Victrix Napoleonic pieces (mainly heads and arms) to make zombies for Pride and Prejudice, so GB ancients should be a possible

Crocodile Games have some animalistic ones
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

There's a thread on here right now about some Marienburgers and zombie-esque opponents which are very cool looking - just grey-scaled humans basically.
