I've now applied the basic paint layer to the remodelled, elevated ends of the donga boards... Next step here will be to paint in all the rocky detail and then apply grass and scrub. So the next time you see these parts of the build, they should be complete  :)

Meanwhile, the build of the cave stack is complete, and the entire model has been given two coats of matt black car primer spray (having first sealed all remaining bare styrofoam areas with a liberal coat of neat PVA to seal it - otherwise the spray paint eats away at the styrene... )

The next stage here is to make the landscaped 'lid' for the cave system stack - then the whole thing can be painted in one go, inside and outside... Watch this space.

Looking great..

Can I suggest the lid being made in several pieces? This way you only have to reveal the parts the players are in rather than the whole complex in one go...

Or you could build up the cliff face even higher just a few inches at the front classified as unclimbable terrain (or extremely difficult) and leave the back open and accessible to the players. No roof to remove.
BTW.. :-*

Thanks Giles. i already have a plan for this - the 'lid' will slide back gradually, to only reveal so much of the interior (and what may be concealed within it) as the players' figures actually penetrate...  >:D

That's a nice earthy brown you have going on there for your groundwork... Mind sharing your mix?

It's a household matt emulsion from Crown (a UK brand - don't know if you have that in Canada, probably not I'm guessing?) The colour is called 'Tempting'.

How very apt. Really smashing tone and it ties in so well with all the green stuff you use.

The extension is blending in well with the original when will we get to see the man eating tigers that live in the caves?

Yes Dirk ;)

We will see the next stage when I get time between work and other stuff...
And when I can match the bloody colour of the grass mix I used on the original board. So far, not so good. I think I'm missing fine turf burnt grass colour from the mix. Curses. I've got just about every other colour and grade of Woodland Scenics scatter material - apart from the one I actually need!  >:(

When ye mix it, pass on the recipe for posterity. It's a good looking blend.

Lord knows I need a good blend. 8)

Looking good so far Capt.

To solve your problem, what about phasing out the old stuff? What I mean is re-apply grass on some of the old bits to eventually match the new bit?
