New GW Admech walkers - suitable for VSF
« on: April 08, 2015, 12:49:26 AM »
It has been a while since I put any paint on my VSF projects, but these new spider walkers from  GW look almost exactly like a conversion I wanted to make but couldn't a couple of years back:

Very tempting to revive the project....

The walker would indeed fit any VSF table rather nicely.

Well I turned this:

Into this:

So I'm happy to have a play with the new one, doesn't look as ridiculous as the defiler.

I'd take a look at one of them as well but probably scrap the top and just work with the legs and bits.

The rest rather put me off until I realized I found the 'action' poses looked so awkward that they'd be easy to work up as clockwork automatons. I always envision the tech as completely a work-in-progress. Either slow and stolid, or always on the edge of falling over.

Edit: Think of the annoying Martin Short-voiced robot in Treasure Planet.

The 'garments' make me think they'd be fine additions to a Papal force, such as Governor General's group.

The spider walker actually makes me think it should be split into two vehicles. Each would require a fair amount of parts, but it dilutes the pain of Evil Empire [tm] prices. Maybe the top on some cheap toy tank tracks? Train locomotive?

Dewbakuk: Not sure what part is 'weak', but certains not skill and imagination.  lol

I'm a big admirer of that conversion.
