There is a small difference between weapon classes - so basically one-handed, two-handed, and staffs are treated differently, but there is no difference between an sword and a mace if they are both one-handed.

What with spears? Siply graded as one-handed?
And missile weapons?

Spears are considered 1-handed weapons.  Missiles weapons are just bows and crossbows - crossbows hit harder but take longer to reload.

I dug out all my mordheim/chaos/dungeoncrawl warbands yesterday (mostly Grenadier/Copplestone really) and many would fit perfectly in the Frostgrave setting, even if possibly a bit underdressed.
But were to find ruined stone buildings? Resin Roman scenery, LotR plastic, Ziterdes hardfoam? I've got an old White Dwarf with Arnor ruins made of pink foam.
I really like the stone ruins setting as it's only one step from any dungeon scenery project.

Personaly, I'd like to make some Greek ruins - buy some cake columns and make some temple-like buildings, more or less ruined.

Hirst Arts molds are going to be useful for that sort of thing, not sure how much it costs to ship to Europe.

How do you put your group for a scenario together? What i mean is, how do you manage, if a new player in campaign with a fresh group want´s to play against a seasoned group with lots of items?

Thanks for this site - quite inspirational. I've thought about simple rows of columns with a roof,  but idea of this arch is great!
I need only columns as I'm quite skilful with styrofoam sculping :) And I really hate plaster. It's heavy and liable to shatter (even during storage, not to mention transport)

I was involved in the playtesting of Frostgrave and during that time I was building me a new "warband" while the others kept their old.
And, although I was starting with a completley unexperienced group it never felt like I hadn't a chance against the other ones.

But, I was asking Joe about that too, and he was thinking of making some rules to compensate the difference, maybe by granting some more cash to build the group or giving some extra xp, but I don't know how it will be handled in the finished rules now.

In the end, I decided not to make specific rules for bring an warband into an existing campaign. I just believe the question is better answered by the players playing the campaign than by an author without all of the facts.

That said, the biggest difference between any two Frostgrave gangs is likely to be the level of the wizard. With nothing else to go on, I would allow the new player to create a wizard 1 level below the lowest level wizard in the campaign. I would then give them a big chunk of money which they can use any way they want - buying henchmen, magic items, a base.  However, it's pretty impossible to say what that amount of money should be without knowing what the other player's gangs look like.

As Comsquare said, unless the campaign is quite advanced, I don't think any starting warband will be completely out of it. Magic, wisely employed, is a great leveler, and thugs are tougher than most people think!

The question is...has to be the lead character spellcaster?
And his apprentice?
Is it possible to cast spells, well, in Full Plate?
(sir Sparhawk and his band of friends from legendary Eddings novels)

Is it possible to have animal companions instead of Undead
(Witch of the Wild from the Dragon Age)

I know its about spellcasters, but still I wonder if there are any other option for alternate characters classes?

I'm afraid it has to be a wizard leading the warband, and they cannot wear armour. That said, you wizard could focus on combat and armour spells.

Yes, one of the Witch spells is 'Animal Companion'.

I am realy sad. I like good games with knights and not wizards...  :'(
Well I have to find some wizards I like...
Morrigan the Witch of the Wild, Varian Jaegere, Isiem Shadowcaller, The Srinshee, Spell Captain Josidiah Starym and his pet Guenwhywar; Pathfinder Iconic Characters...... OK there are a lot of options. The game sounds so good that I have to find some spellcasters I realy like.

Is it possible to have animal hanchmens?

Thanks for answer.

As for animal henchmen - as Joe said, yes - one of the spells is for 'Animal Companion' - the Wizard can replace one of his human henchmen with a pet of some kind.

It is also possible to temporarily control animals found amongst the ruins.

There are knights in the game (a couple of types in fact), but they are employed as henchmen rather than leading the gang. You can have several knights in your party, but you do have to pay lots of gold for such quality soldiers!
