Barlowe's Knoll Gettysburg-AAR Using Bull run to Gettysburg
« on: April 27, 2015, 01:34:01 AM »
We played a game last week at the club based on the attack of Early's Division on Barlowe's Knoll. We used Bull Run to Gettysburg rules with the addition of the QRF sheets the author our own David B emailed me. The game was great fun and every player controlled a brigade plus a battery. I had one old timer of the club who is melded to the WRG 1685-1845 rules and its like and has no time for the newer rules like Black Powder, wax lyrical about these rules. Definitely of the old school but thats a good thing, i thoroughly recommend the rules.
Take a look at the piccies on our website

Some previews

Hay's Brigade moving on the right of Lt. Col Jones' Artillery battalion on their way to reinforce the attack on the Knoll

The 1st Brigade of Col. Von Gilsa cling desperately to the knoll- under fire for the whole game and decimated by the end they nevertheless clung tenaciuosly- the rightmost battery on the knoll copped a battering but kept firing on the incoming Rebs until the last minute.

Hope you like.

A mighty fine looking game you have there, nicely done figures and terrain.

Trust you found the QRS useful.

Glad you enjoyed your game! The pictures on your blog give a good feel for how the game went.

I love ACW!  Do you have any details on the scenario?  Was it home-brew or is it published somewhere?
