Thank you for changing the image,( finally got my iPad back off my daughter and now have no idea how to use it.I was beginning to wonder if it was something I'd done as this doesn't happen on the android tablet and phone I've been posting on

)
I've used multi period figures to build the local auxiliary ,because I don't hold with the uniform look,transitioning units have more appeal. From my own experience there is no instant kit change it takes years and often a full generation of soldiering to achieve ,and even more so in irregular and auxiliary units.and add in budget cuts its ,and it's recycle ,make do and mend.
The RAF still had 1908 pattern belts in stores in late '96.is just one example. So I can see no reason why units in a late roman back water,on a major trading route for Germanic nations is going to be poster boy material for the ideal legionary of the Med legions.
The choice of location is simple it's a blind spot in Roman Britian,come south of Scarbrough and the books go blank until well south of the river Humder and towards York.despite thousands of reported private finds being reported ( there is a paper on this which suggests a settlement history for the area based on private finds reported to the local archeology units.)
Which in short means rivet counters are stuck for a basis of an argument (or to put it simply no one can tell me I'm wrong and spoil my fun

)
Yes the helmet has a face mask just to give a sort of local tribal leader feel to the finished unit.
