Warlord Plastic Fallshirmjager
« on: 27 May 2015, 04:01:55 PM »
I have just noticed that Warlord are going to be doing plastic Fallshirmjagers. I am tempted but

unfortunately the short legs (to my eye) that all the Warlord plastics seem to have will probably dissuade me, unless I can get some suitable longer legs from somewhere else.

I will probably go with the Perrys offerings when they come out although it would have been nice to build some.

I have seen them in the same mail advert and they do not look short legged to me, also the older German infantry I have just a bit to the light of my PC station have normal legs... said that... if you do not like them feel free to not buy them. The Perry brothers will soon have their own out anyway. Thanks god we have choice... someone told me back in time... when I was still less than a toddler... there was just a single manufacturer around and people could not complain... I am sure that was a legend...  lol

anyway some images so people can decide by themselves:

Yeah, sorry I didn't stick the images up its not something I can easily do with my phone. Now I've taken

another look at those images, I reckon some of those helmets need a bit more work, still they are only the

greens, I guess.

From what I can see the legs are fine (i've complained in the past about some warlord legs being too long lol) the problem is it's hard to see the waist in green form, especially with the legs being covered by the uniform.

Anatomically something looks wrong - especially see the chap bottom left - looks like a toddler with a machine gun. Sure they will look better painted.

Having seen them in the flesh at Salute I dare say there is nothing at all wrong with them.
On the contrary, I believe it's gonna be Warlord's finest set yet.
But they are 28mm 'heroic' Warlord and not 25mm Perry or 1:48. Accept it.

have to agree with SP. I might even get them and I don't even play Germans. Even the faces are way better than previous sets

You know I wouldn't call warlord heroic scale, it has more of a cartoon style but the minis are surprisingly slight compared to some.

They look pretty good! The faces lack that muppet look that some of their previous WW2 efforts had.

I'm also of the the opinion that these are pretty good, W's plastics are getting better & better - that said, they're still 'herioc' 28mm, so the slightly over large proportions (particularly the head) does give that slightly 'toddler' look - but no worse than most at this scale (I also think the legs look fine, a combo of pose & smock gives the impression of shortness).

Larger features are ideal for painting though imo. I never get hung up on these things as for me gaming miniatures look better when in Heroic scale.

Agreed, don't ge me wrong Perry has some nice realistic stuff but it's harder to paint and a tendency to snap.

They look good, damn good actually! As for their legs looking short, fj had some seriously long smocks when opened!
