An experiment of sorts - the Sci Fi Reference Repository
« on: June 08, 2015, 08:01:13 PM »
Well, what's all this then?

Basically, it has been pointed out repeatedly over the last few months that the Future Wars board has become rather huge and unwieldy. Generally, I agree with this view, but I decidedly want to avoid it becoming a mess of child boards for each and every Sci-Fi franchise out there. Also, since large numbers of "stickies" are unpopular, that option isn't really valid, either.

Still, to clear things up a bit, I've decided to launch a little test balloon, called the Sci Fi Reference Repository. In here, similar to the "How to" child board on the workbench, I will collect useful "reference" threads which will be of use to members searching for information.

If you would like to see a thread moved here, please send me a PM or reply to this topic with a link to the thread in question, and I'll see if it warrants inclusion.

To keep this thread nice and tidy, please refrain from using this board for "non-distinct" discussion topics. Only "reference" threads will be allowed here, and I will remove inappropriate threads.

As always, no links to copyrighted material, please.

Good idea  :)

I believe this could be a useful candidate (with a slight title change).

...

While there are a number of toys ripe for conversion, and many company offerings as well, I should think most made-for-gaming are either one or the other scale, and probably should be separate posts in the respective threads. Of course, there may well be a cry for 6mm, 10mm, and 20mm to follow...

As for things taking a fair amount conversion, I'm not sure those would fit in this group of lists as well.

...
However apparently I have reached the limit of the allowed characters within a single post  :-[
Just continue in this post, and add to topic title: 'Page 2 on Page 2'  lol

Brummie's quite the man for trying to keep the 15mm list in his own post; might think about the pros and cons on that. A concise list saves scrolling through pages of posts, but I think the text is a bit TOO dense for comfortable reading. As for trying to keep his lists together at the top of the 15mm child, can you put another post of his second on the thread?

However you work it out, I think 'brilliant' is appropriate.

I've thought about going back and bullet pointing the facts for each manufacturer as opposed to a description, it will free up more characters which I can then utilise for the other manufacturer posts that have sprung up since.

Just need a bit more time to properly sort through it again  lol

There's a pretty cool Moongrunt discussion at the moment with some listing of appropriate models for spacesuit combat. Might that fit here?
