For the" courreurs des bois", yes,  many  have as only breeclout and leggings as indians!
But for the soldiers of "Compagnies Franches de Marine" normaly no! Have leggings above the "chausse"

As Huron34 says, not normally, but it did happen at least once. The French leader of the attack on Braddock's column, de Beaujeu, was reportedly stripped to the waist and wore war paint at that battle. It makes a good excuse to use some artistic license.
