Old school colour styles mixed with new school painting techniques equals epic win!

That is exactly my intent, you totally get me! I've got an almost OCD focus on painting style consistency throughout the project too :-)

Ebay job, I'm afraid.  Late 90s Citadel. Very old skool, but good Minotaurs at a reasonable price are otherwise hard to find.

A while back I posted a pic of the Mantic dragon I got in the Dungeon Saga Kickstarter. Still not totally sure how I'm going to paint it, but I gave some thought to rebasing it.

I measured up, and it seemed like the ideal size was 85-90mm round. Unfortunately, Fenris do no such bases in either of the ranges I use. Anyhoo, I decided to have a go myself. So I ordered a 90mm round laser-cut disc in 3mm ply, and sculpted a base to (roughly) match the Fenris temple bases I use. A few Dark Arts Studios coin piles, and Bob's your mother's brother.

Now, where did I put that dragon?

A good update to the project this weekend. Finally finished my alternative Dwarf adventurer - just the Wizard to go!

A hard one to photograph for some reason - it doesn't look as dark in the flesh, but hopefully you get the idea.

Pushed myself with this mini, actually learning a new technique called 'the loaded brush' on the cloak (check Youtube for some great tutorial videos). Also did some advanced colour theory, shading the dark turquoise with a reddish-brown. Quite pleased with the result!

Only the Wizard to go from the four main heroes. I actually have it narrowed down to three models, but can't decide which one to go for lol

One of the best miniatures themed project I ever seen....
I love the painting and how you have done the bases.

Thanks for the support everyone.

I have my third and final Minotaur done! (Well, final until I do the Minotaur Lord, but that's for another day).

And here's the group shot:

As I've said before on this thread, when you play the first few games of Quest, you *really* don't want to meet all three Minotaurs. That always results in total party kill...  :D

This is one of my favourite threads. Everything looks great.

Ah, the memories!

Some great painting in this thread, the minotaurs in particular. Back when I played WHQ with my little brother I actually used to like it when 3 turned up at once - this might have been because I usually played a troll slayer!  lol
Adventures? Nasty disturbing uncomfortable things! Make you late for dinner!

I was going to say, since I only ever played a Troll Slayer I don't remember minding it so much - but it did kick the crap out of the player group most of the time.  We've been discussing running a big Warhammer Quest game (possibly using DF terrain in place of cards)...I'm looking forward to it.

Prepare thyself for some serious threadomancy, adventurer...

Yes, that's right. The Warhammer Quest project may have taken a break, but it's certainly not dead. There's a bunch of models on my painting table nearing completion, but first, I wanted to come back with a bang. With something incredible and eye-popping. Are you ready? Are you?

Behold...

12 Snotlings!  lol

(This post is dedicated to Elbows, because he probably thought I'd never paint these pesky little greenskins...)

More to follow soon!
