A nice collection. I like the little background stories...  :)

Threadomancy!

Seems like every other post I make on this thread resurrects it from the dead. But this time I played a bunch of games of Warhammer Quest over the Christmas break (and Advanced Heroquest, as it happens), and it got me all fired up to paint some more minis.

I've had this guy in storage for something like 24 years, so it was therapeutic to finally get paint on it. Annoyingly, I took him out of the box in the loft, and the original shield fell out, and went between the cracks in the insultation boards. No chance of getting it back. Luckily, I found an old box of plastic Bretonnian knights, complete with waterslide transfers, which saved the day! (Yes, 20-year-old decals still work...)

Stunning!

And the reality
Between the motion
And the act

A lovely nineties paintjob that really brings out the model; great work again!

So after a long period of silence, it's a double update this week. Emperor's Bones!

I knew that eventually I'd have to paint 6 more close-combat skeletons, but to be honest I find skellies quite tedious to paint, so I've put them off for years! Anyway, I got my hands on some of these lovely Warhammer Underworlds undead, and decided this was just the inspiration I needed. Lovely, unique poses, and I can use them for multiple games (at the current count, Warhammer Quest, Advanced Heroquest, Underworlds, and Lasting Tales). I love multi-use models...

The Skeleton Champion is a lovely model. Here's a close-up ... Although I only noticed he was slightly out of focus after uploading. Doh!

Great work!  Yeah, that particular skeleton box was excellent, particularly when it was $20, lol.  Great sculpts.  I use them in my dungeon crawl as well.

Those are really nice.  Very vivid colors.

Time for another hero!

So this is Chaos lord from Hasslefree Miniatures. I wasn't sure whether to paint him up as one of my Chaos Warrior baddies, or as the Chaos Warrior Hero alternative... so I figured why not both? I'll be honest, I always found the idea of a Chaos Warrior as a hero a bit weird. I figure he's just a northman who's taken things a bit far (I mean, what is the Barbarian in Warhammer Quest if not a Chaos Marauder with fewer scars?  lol)

A bit of rebasing so he matches the rest of the collection, and he's good to go.

Took a few photos of this one - he doesn't really have a perfect angle to get everything in focus.

Obviously the mark of a 'hero' is a cloak made of mouldering old flayed skin...

Great painting! He does remind me of Militron in one of the older Legend of Zelda games.

Nice model with a great paint job! 8)

It should fit in just seamlessly with GW Chaos Warriors...
