What I will note is, although this project has been years in the making, the few times we do get to play make it all worthwhile. There's nothing like playing a game with a fully painted set (this applies to every type of game in this mad hobby of ours, from Napoleonics to skirmish and everything in-between). As one of our players said last night, "the best part of the hobby is that bit at the start when you line up your painted army, ready to start the game." And I think I agree!
Me too!

I was just about to sell off my Mordheim warbands (of which I have quite a few), when out of the blue someone started organising a campaign. Now, naturally I am not going to use any of them, instead paint up a new gang, but still. Years in the making, but the few battles we have makes it all worthwhile.

And you have some very pretty models there!

BOING!!!

A few more monsters completed. I painted up three extra Squigs in different colours, to use as "Wild Cave Squigs" - this way I can differentiate them from the Squig Herder groups.

(One day I'll get all models in a group shot in focus, but I guess that day hasn't yet come...  lol)

Some more monsters for the dungeon! We have the second game of our campaign tonight, so I spent the weekend finishing off these classic Night Goblin Netters. Sculpts are bit goofy and knobbly to be honest, which made them a bit fiddly to paint, but they definitely have a certain charm.

I'll be shuffling them into the monster deck tonight, and then probably weep as they entangle the entire party for half the session  lol

Full group of 6:

Those Night Goblins look great

Even though my tastes tend to more "realistic" fantasy these days the Kev Adams style is always the default goblin for me

No dear, they are not toys, they are models

Fantastic. For some reason I see the netters as being great for catching squigs with those pics side by side.

Lovely job! There's a lot of charm in those older sculpts, despite their fiddliness.

Next group of monsters for the dungeon: Beastmen!

Some of these old metal rank-and-file models are a real chore to batch paint (a reminder of why I don't paint armies anymore...). The Bestigor and the old Blood Bowl mutant beastmen are a lot nicer. Thankfully, Warhammer Quest makes no distinction between Beastman types, so I was able to just mix and match 12 from the pile.

Those look brilliant! So much individuality on those classic figures and your painting is excellent.
