Our Star Crush 1/250 Starfighter Kickstarter is Live
« on: 02 July 2015, 06:05:14 PM »
I'm busy sculpting the remaining 3 initial ships, sketches below. Obviously riffing on Gerry Anderson and John Dykstra so essentially I've regressed into my childhood but I'm having fun. The ships will be available through our new company Crucible Crush but the Kickstarter is a nice way to get a bargain and help us fund our web site.

Looks interesting - and its already passed the starting goal.

Are there any stretch goals?

Two of the ships in the sketches are probably going to be stretch goals. Since the project is very open ended, what would you like to see?

Hadn't given it much thought.

On first looking at the interceptors I was put in mind of the series "UFO".

Have you looked at the old British SF (comic) series "Dan Dare"?

The original artwork was based on models & photos - there is a book called "The Man Who Drew Tomorrow" about the artist Frank Hampson

Bob, as one raised on a steady diet of Gerry Anderson, John Dykstra, the various TTA sci-fi art books, and the original Saturday morning Flash Gordon serials of my Dad's generation, I salute you! :D

You'll forgive me if when the time comes that I get my claws on some of these models I adapt them to Silent Death; I just don't believe in letting a perfectly good space fighter go to waste! 8)

BTW, I sent you a PM over on TMP re: some in gratis sketches you're welcome to help yourself to for inspiration. I am especially liking the top and center ships in the sketch. The former reminds me of Reviresco's Starhawk miniature with more detail and character (not that the little Starhawk isn't a cool mini), and th elater is just a really nice style of ship. Perhaps you might consider making a larger, two or three seater variant?

If you are attending Historicon 2 weeks from now we will be running some Star Crush demo games in the Pulp Figures / Crucible Crush booth. You can find us located beside Pictor's Studio who will be handling Pulp Figures sales.

If the KS is open-ended...consider some civilian transport tugs, shuttles, maintenance/recovery vessels, fuel stations for travel...etc.  All the non-combat stuff which really aids players in creating cool scenarios?

EDIT: Just saw this was scaled to X-Wing style...so I'd encourage even more some generic stuff which SW could also pick up and use.  Opens the market up.

Tugs, shuttles, non-combat support- really excellent suggestion. We will have to investigate getting some larger models done in resin.
