Annie, slightly different situation given your business model   :)
Yes I did my time at GW but I've also done work for many other companies (I'm not going to go into a who I know and what companies I've worked for. When people do that it always seems to me like they have a need to validate themselves and my ego is fine thanks ;)).
GW does those units as niche forces for a reason though. 40k outsells Warhammer by a vast amount but one of the lowest selling 40k army's ever was Sisters of Battle. There is a reason it stopped being supported etc. The thing is, it's easier to guage sales on larger battle stuff than on small character driven items. In my opinion female figures can sell just as well as character figures, units of troops however, not so much and in the case of the Frostgrave plastics, I don't doubt they're intended to sell that way to people too. Take a look at the armies that people use, especially the ones who are proponents of female figures (myself included), you have the occasional person who does an entire army of them but mostly they have a unit or two and/or some female figures scattered through their other units.

Fantasy is usually based on some form of historical point and other than a few notable exceptions (see character fig comments), women didn't fight in battles and I think that carries over into the fantasy realm. Sci-fi is generally a better fit I believe and they are even then usually outnumbered, but I see no reason why they should be.

I also think putting female heads on the current plastics works absolutely fine. Wrapped up in cold weather gear, you can only tell the difference by relative heights and the way people move and neither of those is a guarantee.
So many projects..... so little time.......

I disagree. I know you have more experience with the sales side, but I think there are more factors in there than just gender (I think I have more experience with the knowledge of female representation and historical fighters, but that is an assumption as I don't know you). But I'd rather leave it so poor Nick can have his thread back about the cultists! Also to save me from myself, as the discussion has the power to distract me from my work all day!

Cheers Dewbak, I hope I can prove you wrong with results rather than keyboard missioning, and you seem like a nice chap that would wish me luck with it  :D

But we should definitely go back to "Ooh those cultists look lovely!" as I know what it's like releasing something and just getting "nice but if you did THIS or THIS, I'd buy that"  :D

Those cultists look lovely I can't wait to see more!

Ooohh, shiny cultists ;)

Actually, Nick showed me some photo's of assembled 3-ups last night. Nice and evil looking, hopefully he'll start to filter them out into the public domain soon.

On a similar note, I haven't seen the Lich guy anywhere else other than snuck into this montage

He was a freebie figure with the Level 5 Nickstarter. I think Nick said he'd be released for general sale with/shortly after the Thaw book gets released.

That is the Lich, well spotted.

The 'Ultimate Nickstarter' participants have a model of him already, and I hope to make him available soon to buy, maybe before the book is out. Another Giorgio Bassani sculpt.

Female Soldiers aside, I hope everyone noticed we did represent female wizards very well. Not 50%, I agree, but 8 out of 20 isn't bad.

Yes you did represent some wizards as females which I think is great but I for one am glad that didn't include those from the witch school (with pointy hat and a broom) instead portraying them as voodoo/tribal types

Hurrah for cultists! I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of the models.

Are there more metal models on the way too?

There are 4 undead heads and 3 sets of Undead arms on the frame as well. With these extra bits, you can turn your plastic Soldier or Cultist into a proper Frostgrave Skeleton or Zombie!

This is a great idea.

How do we know the cultists aren't female?
'Sir John ejaculated explosively, sitting up in his chair.' ... 'The Black Gang'.

That's pretty awesome. Though I thought there were no more wizard classes coming? Not that I am complaining. Haha.

I had noticed that - and appreciated it!

Ok so they won't eat the first week in school. I think I can swing it. Looking forward to November!
