The Fabulous Art of Trudvang - Fantastic artbook arrived!
« on: August 15, 2015, 04:33:47 PM »
The collected art of Trudvang, the gameworld from Sweden, with master artists such as Paul Bonner, Justin Sweet, Alvaro Tapia and more is coming as a mighty 120+ pages book through kickstarter:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1256540796/the-fabulous-art-of-trudvang/description

I would have backed this already and immediately, but unfortunately the shipping costs are ridiculous. As a backer you'd have to pay 350 swedish kronen, about 37 Euros, which is just fine for such a high quality artbook. BUT, shipping to Germany will cost me another 250 swedish kronen, another 26 Euros!

A 2 kg paket from Germany to Sweden with DHL will cost me 14,- Euros. I can only hope they will find a better solution, otherwise I won't back this project. Very sad as the book will be a kickstarter exclusive, you won't get it in the bookstores afterwards.  :-[

Nice trolls. :) This might be an opportunity for me to get a good look at some of that Paul Bonner art that people rave about.

Kr600 to Blighty, about £45... Hmm. Well, wouldn't be the first time I've thrown silly money at a KS book.  ;D

No general release?! But why??

Beautiful book.

Damned flaming stupid to not have a general release. Just one more thing to pass on, I guess.

Well, to be fair, one of those previous books I backed was significantly more expensive on general release. Another was a KS one-off, and that was a sketchbook, so a lot more disposable and subject to replacement problems than a printed book. Still good. Don't let future availability and might-have-beens stop you getting it if you want it.

If it helps, imagine it's made out of lead or HIPS. ;)

Not a fan of the Kickstarter model at present. Too much fucking around to try and squeeze money off of silly nonsense (bonuses, KS exclusives) for something I won't see for months to years and that's if everything goes as planned.

So, no.

I'm interested. It's quite a lot to pay for a 120 page book, but if stretch goals are met it will be nearer 200 pages. Love this kind of stuff.  :-*

Too much moaning about KS already, if you don't like it, just walk away.

I am very tempted to pledge but the postage is simply rediculous.

I am sure I can arrange something.

Amazing book, would love to get it, but that postage fee is ridiculous indeed.

Funded.

Quite a few comments about shipping here and in the KS comments section. They reckon Swedish Post is high cost. Any Swedes on the board care to comment - 250SEK to ship to UK and most of Europe by the look of it, though I did notice it's 350SEK to ship to their neighbours in Norway. I know cost of living is high in Scandanavian countries, guessing this is just how it is?

Postage in Sweden is indeed expensive, even more so in Norway.

How much does a book weigh? 1000 gr? From what I can see you should be able mail it from Sweden to Germany for €15 or something close to that.

I think it's a matter of ordering together in order to save on shipping ( if they allow that, i.e. ).
Love the book, but I'll pass for now on behalf of the heavy shipping costs.
