Any Rif War Gamers out there?

Spanish and French forces versus the author of Guerilla Warfare, Abdl Krim?  Anyone else gaming this period?  Lots of good forces to pick from and lots of character in the mountains of Morocco.

Not sure why the fear of Threadmancy (or whatever it is called,) but anyway, as I expand my plans for Historical Spanish armies I keep getting drawn to the Rif Wars (because I like the lateness of the a period that appeals to a person who mostly has reduced the 25 mm figures to the 1680 - 1846 period yet isn't the SCW which some people - like East Front WW2 find politically charged) for a possible set of armies.  I guess I need to find my own notes on available miniatures and see what's new since I last looked.  What figures does everyone recommend (25 mm, 15 mm, or 6 mm be considered.)

Gracias,

Glenn

Guys

We regularly play Rif War games at BattleScape. Our rules of choice are Triumph & Tragedy. We did try the Iron Ivan rules but just didn't get the right 'feel'. I also sell ALL of the Rif War miniatures from RifRaf so if you need any or have any questions drop me a line here or through the store at BattleScape.com.au

Who sculpts those Rif minis.  I love the look of them...the proportions, the poses.  I wish there was more like them in 28mm.

I guess I'll just have to start a new project.

You're not, Malchus : Richard Ansell is indeed the guilty party. The range seems to have stalled though, since no new packs have been released for quite a while.

Doing more painting and building of forces than actual gaming unfortunately.  Don't know any other gamers here now that my son has headed off to university.  I'm inspired everyday by being "on scene" (or near enough - Rabat).  I've got a mix of Rif Raf, Empress SCW, and Askari, all of which I like for the period.  I'm not too particular about figures having to be exactly right and to the exact same scale, so I don't mind the mix.

I am just getting my Spanish Foreign Legion painted now, still no idea about rules yet, ideas here seem well worth following.
Have you looked at Askari Miniatures, there is quite a nice line of Spanish F.L.  Somewhere I picked up a mortar and crew I think they are for the SCW but they converted easy enough.

I have the Iron Ivan Rif download for this.

I always intended doing Rif Wars once my SCW project had moved on.

Is there much difference in the uniform between 1920s and 1930s SF Legion. I could check but its more fun to ask  :)
