Well, I'm hooked. Been eyeing the game for sometime, collected a bit of stuff for it here and there and did a demo yesterday. It is fast, simple and deadly and only needs 1, maybe 2 house rules to be perfect (in this case a forced time limit to prevent it becoming like Mordheim, kill kill kill).

I've managed to find some old LotR scenic stuff for starters, finished stripping the old paintjobs tonight, will have to do some more work on the standing statue but nothing major.

I've also managed to find some Mines or Moria stuff that will be sent to me this week, so it's a start.

My partner in crime says he likes to focus on building more Mordheim scenery which of course is perfect for Frostgate (we'll skip the snow bit btw, more generic that way) and in time he would like to do a campaign too.

Since I have no real collection of Fantasy miniatures other then a box of Mordheim stuff, I'll sell off some more unwanted tat so I can mix and match what I like for a Warband. Have not made my mind up yet about what sorceror to go for but no rush.

I did start with making loot...ehm, treasure counters.

GW box on a 25mm base and a Kromlech jewel on a 20mm base, with some added thin soldering wire to make it a necklace/pendant/locket. I'll try my luck at making one with a stash of coins tomorrownight I think, should not be too hard.

Don't wait up for updates, I'm notoriously slow

Nice start. Ive dusted off my old Lotr scenery amongst others.

I've not decided yet whether to do my bases and scenery wintery or leave them more generic for versatility. Snowy bases do look cool though (mind the pun) hence the undecided part.

Thanks for sharing

No, Mordheim was Wyrdstone, Gorka Morka was Skrap, I'm not really sure why I used the word loot. Well, they are band or mercenaries plundering a city for its antiquities. Loot sounds a bit more down to earth then treasure!  ;D

Tonights entry is scratchbuilding at its finest, a coin base and a potion base. Waste plasticcard and resin scrap.

2x2 cm bit of plasticcard turned into coins by using a punch and die, and a bit of scrap resin turned into a bottle. Who said this hobby was expensive....was right as the punch and die set set me back 55 euros (plus a hexagonal one for 55 and a special hammer for another 10 euros) 2 years ago, and this is the first time I used it. Oh well,it works  :good:

Nice start. I'm all about scratch building and being frugal with my wargames.

Good start!  I was about to ask what size punch you used for the coins but I'm guessing it isn't a simple holepuncher if it cost you 55 euro.  lol

If only it was that simple :D I have 2 sets, a round one and a hexagonal one, both from Steel Models, and for what you get (8 dies (or are they punches?) plus a metal block with 8 holes and a sheet of perspex half the size of a bankcard they are indeed scarily expensive

You are going to enjoy this, I suspect. Our gang has been dusting off our old Mordheim stuff and just going for it. Good fun all around.

Very much looking forward to seeing your particular take on Frostgrave.  8) 8) 8)

Loot was Necromunda, if that helps ;)

Good luck with your project, looks like you're off to a good start. Those treasure tokens are a lot of fun to make - I'm halfway through making a set of 12 myself. Just a good excuse to raid the bitz boxes :)

I've played a few games of Frostgrave now, and I am really enjoying it. I like the fact it feels more appropriate to use any 28MM fantasy model you have knocking aroung than for Mordheim, where you feel a little more constrained to follow the Old World fluff (although as GW have nuked the entire Warhammer Fantasy setting in favour of Rage of Sigmar I guess it's all a moot point!) On balance I think Mordheim is a better game, but it is nice to be playing some non-GW skirmish just to be playing something different. Gotta love the chance to break out the D20's too!

A mate of mine is ordering some moulds which you can pour plaster of Paris into, which should be interesting.

I look forward to following your progress, Gunbird. Happy modelling and gaming 8)

I received some more scenery today, bringing my collection up to this total:

I'll have a look at Crisis to see if I can find any 1 or 2 big pieces, but with that it will end for this year and will need to get painting and flocking. I've got the book now too so there will be much reading to do.

Just spent almost all of my 75 euro scenery budget that I had left in one go to get the following off a friend.

I'm very grateful to him cause this is a absolute bargain. This stuff sells for a fortune on Ebay!  :o
