I like to only use the dbl damage rule on a crit vs uncontrolled monsters. It's bad enough that the opponent auto hits and does max damage. This also allows a well armored or very tough soldier to survive a 20 but usually only just bearly. I am a big fan of all your Frostgrave battle reports and am looking forward to seeing more.

Same here. I really enjoy the videos. I know there are a ton of games out there. I just wish that this one got a weekly rotation from your channel.

Well it will get bi-weekly for the next little while! :)

Thanks guys!

We try to play with 'all the rules' as they are in the book. I actually like Critical hits as they make even the most uninspiring, outnumbered scrub able to occasionally do something truly heroic.

The cost of course, is occasionally a goblin archer just murders two of your warband in the first turn. ;)

That was pretty brutal.
I put on an introductory game at my local club a while back - first shooting roll my opponent made.... nat 20  :o

That's why we've never adopted the optional critical hits or wounded rules - makes the game play much smoother without any crazy swings in fortune! You still get one hit kills but it's rarer.

We play wounded but no crits. 20s seem to one-shot most of anything anyway, especially when paired with the Elemental Hammer'd Marksmen one opponent favors (*shudder*).

I hope your opponent is casting elemental hammer on the arrows/bolts, as the weapon itself doesnt do any damage ;)
