MDF Cargo Ship - looks interesting
« on: 18 December 2015, 02:40:19 PM »
One of the fine chaps on VBCW forum pointed this out:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/311482048492

Seems worth getting at that price. I've ordered one, anyway....

Looks interesting indeed. Like most MDF kits some parts would look infinitely better replaced with non lasercut parts (door wheels etc) but as far as mdf terrain with potential goes this is right up there. That bow though! I think that would still need a decent amount of filling and sanding but it looks like half the wood is going there!

If it gives something that looks a bit like a ship, at that price, I'll cut it quite a lot of slack.... :D

That's what I was thinking, its MDF is if nothing else its a sturdy base to work up from, much more durable then making it from foam core yourself would be.

This is fantastic value for any MDF terrain let alone something that appears reasonably well made the whole lot of TTcombat city scenics seem incredibly good value as well, just picked up their police station for £11!
Thanks for sharing

Yeah, that's a damn good deal. I was expecting a vertical bow or even bad segmentation, but that bow's properly sloped and rounded, making the model as a whole look much nicer.

It won't pass muster with anyone who knows ships, but it'll do nicely for games and is dirt cheap.

An interesting find, indeed.
I have no use of a boat (yet), but if I have sometime in the future, I'm going to get this one.

Thanks for telling us!

That is a good find, Doug, although I think that you are a bad man....

I have been stocking up on stuff to use for a sci-fi setting and there are far too many useful bits in that range to tempt an easily led chap like myself.

Like I said: Bad man.
Very bad man!

They also do a big one

I was thinking of using it with Spectre African Militia and Empress moderns to do a Somalia Pirates game.

I think it all comes from watching Jekyll and Hyde - bwa-ha-ha-ha..... :P

Anyone started assembling one yet? I've done a dry run and I can't get the lowest level of the bow to lie flush with the other levels (they do lie flush with each other).
