I like it. Perhaps a bit of weathering would be in order.

I was concerned it might look like a pile of junk glued together but I think it has come out looking rather nice. I like your painting.

Yep, agreed definitely some weathering and as Bibbles says some landing markings. Otherwise top stuff. :)

Well done Steve   8)

Agree with last couple of comments about weathering and decals, as that is what I'm used to seeing in the movies.  ;)

It looks great, Steve.
 :-* :-*

A couple of decals followed by a few diluted ink washes and a bit of gentle drybrushing is all it needs to bring it up to 'film' standard and you are there, mate.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I did weather it rather too heavily and then repainted it but you're right, it needs some. I tried to paint some landing markings in yellow and cocked it up! Templates are probably the way forward.  Anyone have any suggestions?

For the weathering would you go with a thin black ink wash or a brown?

To be honest I would use pastels or weathering powders for the weathering and only a few thin black washes on the pad as Paul mentioned.

As to the landing markings, get a decent, thin masking tape and use that along with your airbrush but try it our on a scrap bit of material first. Time taken getting the mask right will heap rewards later on  :)

cheers

Dont panic about overdoing the washes a little bit as drybrushing will take that down if you need to.

The secret to drybrushing is VERY dry layers.
Make sure that you have VERY little paint left on the brush, use an old bit of cardboard or similar to make sure almost all the paint is off of the brush.
A little bit at a time and build it up, dont try doing it in one go.

Patience, young Padawan!

Thanks for the tips. I think I have some Tamiya weathering stuff in a small 'make-up' style kit.

I was concerned it might look like a pile of junk glued together but I think it has come out looking rather nice. I like your painting.

lol thanks. I was thinking the same for a while!
