1798/9 dutch uniforms
« on: February 12, 2016, 12:22:42 PM »
Hope somebody can help me, I am doing both the British and French armys in the low countries 1798/99.

The British  had Russian infantry as part of their army and the French had Dutch.[Batavian?]

Can anyone point me in the right direction for uniform details for the Dutch troops?

I am doing this in 28mm, Trent Miniatures and Front rank  so far but any other manufaturers you would recomend ?

The most pictures you find on The Vinkhuijzen collection of military uniforms on the THE NEW YORK PUBLIC LIBRARY DIGITAL COLLECTIONS.
Look for the 1799 period.
When you type in Google: "Bataafse republiek" in Google-pictures, there is information also.
In fact for this period you can use French figures of this period to represent Batavian troops, the differences were small

Some infomation (in English ) is on the "Napoleon Series" website in the "Military section" under "Netherlands"

Good British troops for this period are fwe (Reiver also has some) but Eureka has great Russians

If you need some more information, let me know

greetings
jan

Keith,
which figures do you use for British?
I'm thinking about the earlier 1792-1795 period but 28mm British troops are very rare

Hi Duc
For British infantry "Trent Miniatures" from Northstar or Archane websites, but you need to convert an officer into an ensign. The infantry are for the rebellion in Ireland but its the same uniform as the regular army.
For cavalry Trent do some but I also use Front Rank miniatures as their uniform stayed the same longer.

Hope this helps.
