Soviet Assault Engineers WW II

Bolt Actions Soviet Assault Engineers with a head swap (the heads are from the WGF plastic Soviets). 
BA minis are IMO good, but not as good as they were, the newer heads have - at least for my taste - a too comic like look, the expressions are exaggerated. Therefore the headswap.
I also wanted some female Engineers... 
Not sure if female engineers in the Soviet army are historical correct, but I like them anyway.

I am planning to do some Berlin 1945 games and these tough Soviets are going to see some action in some serious play testing of my upcoming squad level Victory Decision book.
I tinkered for years on a slightly more detailed system/ expansion of the ViDe rules, time to test them out.
The initial play tests will be in the Berlin 45 setting. Elite Soviets vs Volkssturm and Hitler Youth, Soviets vs German Veterans, elite vs Veterans etc etc.

Great job. Love that you have good tonal highlights yet the uniforms are still drab and dark.

Hmm ... On these engineers wearing camouflage suits, but some reason they do not have required "amoeba" spots.

I did not find any proper reference, more like this :





I then decided I just want a muted dark look with a bit of camo.
maybe I do a more camouflaged look in a later mini...

Exist are two varieties of the Soviet summer camouflage - lighter khaki with brown spots and darker one khaki with black spots. Since 1943, has appeared variety of camouflage to the "leaf litter" (sometimes in conjunction with the "amoeba"). But I have not seen a photo of this costume from the engineers.
